20th Century Fox has Spanish helmer Daniel Benmayor in the crosshairs to direct Hitman 2. Will original star Timothy Olyphant return? That is unclear at this point, but Benmayor will make his Hollywood debut on the sequel to the film based on the Eidos videogame about a master assassin. Fox is planning a fall production start.
Benmayor, the Barcelona-born NYU grad created a following shooting Spanish commercials for Sony PlayStation, Renault, Mercedes, Heineken and Samsung. His feature debut come on the Spanish language action film Paintball, in which adrenaline junkies get dropped in a dense forest for a paintball match, and find that someone is using real ammo. Benmayor just wrapped Bruc, about a 19th Century Catalan drummer boy who helps gives Napoleon’s army its first taste of defeat. Studio Canal releases the film in the fall. The director was signed by Verve, which is making the Hitman 2 deal.
The original Hitman grossed $100 million worldwide on a $30 million budget. Adrian Askarieh, Alex Young and Chuck Gordon are producing, and Daniel Alter is exec producer. Daniel Casey has written the most recent draft, which Kyle Ward was originally hired to write. The sequel includes elements from the vidgame Hitman 5. Agent 47, is a beaten man and must build himself back psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as world’s most feared assassin.
I’m told there is an option on Olyphant, but it’s unclear if he will shave his head and return as the killer. Hard to imagine the studio is going to do better than the understated performer, who is building momentum playing the trigger-happy lawman Raylan Givens in Justified, the FX series based on the Elmore Leonard novellas.

I think they should follow the storyline of hitman 2 the video game
If Olyphant refuses the part they should consider signing on Vin Deisel who was their original choice for the first movie.
I agree with..shani…I don’t think they should make the movie without Timothy …he was awsome in the first Hitman movie…and he’s totaly hot..I think he did a great job…
I agree with pat….I love ur ideas for Hitman 2…and I think tht in that second one..there should be some action between him and Nika…some form of romace…and definitely some killer action…I’m realy looking forward to Hitman 2…I hope they do film it
I totaly agree with frances…..I think Tim…is great for this role…and I don’t think they should use anyone else…I thought he was very believable…and I think he’s the right guy for the role…not to mention he’s totaly hot….he’s the Hitman…I don’t see Vin or Statham doin a better job…and i woulnt go watch it if he wasn’t in it…I hoping it comes out soon
I was reading some coments on another website….and there old…but they all want nika to die..I’m the film…..and I don’t agree ..I think they should keep nikain the films…she wakes him up emotionaly….he’s been alone..emotionaly detached for a very long time..he was trained tht way to be cold….and she wakes him up from tht…we see it in the first film…where she tells him not to kill to the cop..and he stops him self for her…so I don’t think she should be killed in the second film…I think she should be targeted so he can protect her agin and so he can find & kill the people who put the hit on him.
I can’t wait to see Hitman 2 if Timothy Olyphant is Agent 47. He’s perfect for that role. He has a perfect bald head. His eyes are perfectly blue and his body could not be more perfect.. get my drift? Olyphant is Agent 47. He’s perfectly convincing as a weapons, martial arts, hand-to-hand combat. His demeanor is exactly what he was trained for as a kid and on up the years. I can’t see anyone else in the role. I hope I made myself perfectly clear. ;>
I have read all of the comments on this page and i do believe that a lot are on the same track…Olyphant is the best choice for 47-the calm collected but efficient killer…if they do choose another actor (ie: Diesel & Stratham) they should be his opposite and try to bring him down…Olyphant was the best choice for the agent and when i saw the DVD cover i knew exactly who he was suppose to be. But cant wait to see the sequel.
They could also kill him & his girlfriend in the beginning and have another agent that he happen to confide in try to find his killer and the bad people in the top of the agency that way we have a different agents story line.
I actually enjoyed the first hitman movie i thought it was pretty decent but i wish they wouldve went more into how he was trained and how it was like 4 him growing up in the agency, but not so much as to diminish action scenes. Olyphant isnt supposed to be a “badass” he is supposed to be silent but deadly when needed/threatened. Too silent isnt good either, but lets face it when ur an assassin ur not at places to converse and make friends ur there to complete ur objective which is eliminate a certain person or persons.Only certain ppl are into hitman type movies so obviously it will never win over the hearts of everyone. If u want a crowd please get in line 4 the new batman movie rise of the dark knight.
I only want a sequel to come out if the same Directors, Producers and Actors are signed. No one can be 47 except Timothy Olyphant, perhaps a different agent could be the center of attention, but that would be cheesy in my opinion. If Olyphant doesn’t want to shave his head for the role because it would mess up Justified, which I am quite fond of, then I say keep the production of Hitman 2 on hold. Besides, not every movie needs a sequel or prequel. Most end up being a flop anyway. Bottom line, I’m only going to watch a second Hitman if Olyphant is 47 and the girl is the same girl, or she’s not in the movie at all.
Timothy olyphant is the person that can play the part, if you do a sequal without returning actors, there is no sence in making the moving. People who watch a sequal want to see the same characters. Will Harry Potter have been the same, will the TWilight series have been the same? so I think in order to have this movie be a succes Olyphant has to return. This should not even be thought over.
I love the first Hitman and think a second with the return of the original cast would be amazing. At first this movie may not have been a huge hit but that may be partly due to a cast that was nearly unknown. I personally don’t know a person who doesn’t like it. The second movie will do great…..as long as it had the original cast
mr olyphant are suitable for hitman role and i won’t watch it again if other actor was to be the hitman~
yes i agree, nika is the one who ‘woke’ 47 from his nightmare since he was a kid, so nika shouldn’t die~
i love it when i saw many of the comments were supporting mr olyphant to be the 47 on the next hitman~
If the next hitman doesnt have Olyphant, Loads of people will not even attempt to watch the movie. Yes most of us agree that the movie wasnt as good as we wanted it to be, but the next one wont even top the original without Olyphant. Best for this role
Bullock was pure repressed rage and anger tightly wrapped in righteousness and what passes for morality in Deadwood. Timothy Olyphant played him to perfection. If you see him as a man afraid of himself, you’ll get it. He’s terrified of his violent thoughts and tendencies. In a show with such a large cast, not everyone can be a scene stealer in every episode. To those that think he’s emotionless- watch the episodes where Wild Bill and William Bullock die. You’ll see plenty in those episodes and the ones on either side. Watch some of the interactions he has with Sol (and Alma, and Mrs. Bullock) for subtle humor. It’s all there, but it’s quiet and nuanced and under a veil of reserve.
Mr. Olyphant is a fantastic actor. He’s got such range. I would not watch a Hitman sequel without him.
Please timothy you did an awsome job playing hitman
Hitman Was an excelent movie, i will gladly buy the sequel, i just hope Olyphant will return 2 play 47, i hope so, but even if he does’nt ill still watch the movie
Tim O. Has that role nailed. Even concidering another actor would be like casting someone other than Sean Connery in the second Bond movie when that franchise started. The chemistry just won’t be there for the audience.
