EXCLUSIVE: I hear Fox is canceling The Wanda Sykes Show 
after one season. The late-night talk show started off strong but tumbled in the ratings as the season went on and fell below the performance of predecessor MadTV in the Saturday 11 PM hour.
MadTV creators Fax Bahr and Adam Small. Coincidentally, Fox aired MadTV and Spike Feresten’s talk show in late-night on Saturday before canceling them last spring and launching The Wanda Sykes Show. But the two new sketch shows were not developed specifically for late night. Sources said Fox is also considering them for primetime, possibly on Fridays or Saturdays. UPDATE: I hear Fox has already passed on the Carvey/Feresten pilot.

MSNBC, CNN = ratings combined are equal to fox news. Hell the lowest news show on network television has twice the ratings as fox news. The problem is that fox news viewers watch all day to get their marching orders and what to think, the other networks viewers have lives.

Wanda can be really funny, but as with so many other hosts/actors, the political shots at Conservatives got tiring and turned off too many potential viewers.
I am going to miss her. She was funny and insightful.

yeah – the show started off so strong that it was almost cancelled in the first month. If the original producers had been left in charge, it would have lasted a few weeks. The “friends” of Wanda’s had EP’d shows for her in the past. They tried to clean up the mess that the original producers made and basically saved the season. So much for you knowing anything.

We did. That’s why she’s being canceled. To many in the media, including stars, publications, movies, and TV shows are forgetting that we are a country that is pretty much split down the middle regarding our political and social views. You can’t start out with nearly your whole schtick being based on ridiculing venom spewed at half your potential audience. Thus shows are canceled, newspapers are in jeopardy, news outlets are wondering why no one is watching them anymore.
I’m a conservative. A bit right of center. I found her funny and still like her. Just don’t act so surprised though when your favorite left leaning media creations can’t survive on their own.

I have tried really hard to like Wanda. She can be an excellent entertainer when she wants to be. Her ideology gets in the way. My wish for her is that she wakes up and starts entertaining again.
She rocked the Correspondent’s dinner last year, lots of post-event chatter, the audience had a great time. Leno sucked wind this year, he kept asking if the mike was on. Sorry to see her show go, I thought the time slot and her timing was a bit off… but uneven guest appearances and shaking writing did her in. I think that a weekly show is not her forte, bi-weekly (no pun intended) trading off with other comediennes or an ensemble of some sort would be better formats. But FOX has got to commit to good writers otherwise, the show is doomed to be “exploratory”.

Did any of you see her most recent standup routine – an hour special? She had me on the floor LMAO for the entire time! I couldn’t stop! But her weekly show? Forget it! Lame production, sponsored by the Alcohol Industry! She and her guests get drunk every show. That’s entertainment?
One week I watched she didn’t drink any alcohol, and I wondered why? Then later she had a discussion about CANNABIS, which obviously the alcohol industry wanted no part of and wouldn’t sponsor. That turned out to be one of her best shows!
But her sidekicks were truly lame. The guy wasn’t funny at all and the cross dresser was just unnecessary window dressing. Successful TV does not come about by having your friends over to bs every night.
Stick to standup Wanda! That’s your forte.
I’ve always loved Wanda and I really liked her show…in the beginning. Toward the end, she just didn’t get good guests and that made the panel sections awkward. Too bad, but she’ll keep going and have something else interesting to watch!
I’m not surprised that Fox has cancelled Wanda Sykes. In past weeks – with that round table discussion in the middle of the show – it was pure death….very boring. Her monologue opening the show was usually funny and she is cutting edge – but if Fox TV had any wits about them – they would never have cancelled Mad TV in the first place. Here was a geniunely funny edgy and innovative ensemble of talented comedians. As far as SNL – this show hasn’t been funny in 20 years – no wonder then needed Betty White to rescue them.
When will entertainers stop being political and turning a large portion of their audience. Not smart at all. I tried watching the Wanda Sykes show and got turned off on the first attempt. I don’t need to hear political crap when all I wanted was some humor and bit of light TV diversion.

When it stops bringing in ratings. Of course with The Daily Show, South Park, Family Guy, Colbert Report and plenty of others, that won’t be for a long while.
Wanda is funny. Most of the partisan hack commenters will never get that because they’re too focused on their own gay-bashing, Fox News defending, and Rush Limbaugh fetishizing. The sidekicks were lame and the sketches should have been funnier, but leave out your hate speech. Another one bites the dust. Better guests and a little support from FOX might have saved this show. I agree if it were on ABC, it would be renewed as a hit, groundbreaking program.
