FX has picked up freshman drama Justified for a second season with a 13-episode order. The contemporary Western/cop drama starring Timothy Olyphant is in the midst of airing its first season, with six more episodes slated to run before the the season finale on June 8. Justified got off to a stellar ratings start, drawing 4.9 million viewers, for its premiere, the largest audience ever for an FX series debut. It has dropped since then but still averages a solid 3.4 million viewers (1.7 million of them in the 18-49 demographic) through its first seven episodes. It also has garnered some of FX’s best new series reviews.
Graham Yost created Justified, which is based on Elmore Leonard character Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Sony TV and FX Prods. produce the series, which is exec produced by Yost, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Dinner, who directed the pilot.

dont see how someone can say ratings go in the toilet at three and a half million an episode.good series, cool plot that hasnt already been beat to death by all the other networks!glad they picked it back up.
The Key words here is: Modern day western. Justified qualifies for that. It is one T.V. show I enjoy watching with my hubby. I hope it stays on for awhile with more acting parts for Tim’s sidekick.Kudos for FX.
when does the new season start? I didnt watch the show until the last episode, and couldn’t believe what I’d been missing.
I grew up in Kentucky, and I think JUSTIFIED is dead-on fantastic in its complicated characterizations of the people there. I’m so glad to see a flawed hero who realizes that doing the right thing might cause more problems in the short term–and he never asks more of anyone else than he asks of himself. The male relationships are fascinating, and I love that the producers decided to keep the Walter Goggins character on the show…having two sets of fathers/sons who are alternately at war yet fraught with familial obligations makes for great drama. I love this show and have already pre-ordered season 1 on DVD for gifts to friends who missed the first season. This show is the best thing on TV in a long time, but it might peter out if fans don’t spread the word, so email, Tweet, and tell your friends about it.
Justified honestly is the best show i’ve seen in a long while. I also agree with the fact that its labled as a “Western” cause Raylan is a new age cowboy, quick draw and all lol.
the show is VERY western in that it deals with someone possessing a traditional cowboy sheriff persona. Obviously it is not a western in a geographical sense. There is much more to bring a western than being filmed somewhere that looks like Texas. If you are a fan of westerns you will love this show.
Best show on television!
This is a wonderful and enjoyable show. Hope FX continues it for a long while. The stories are interesting as well as development of the characters over the episodes. I look forward to season 2.
I absolutely loved the show. I simply would like to know when and if the second season will start. People keep saying FX signed it for a second season but no-one says when it will start.
I love Justified!! I am so glad to hear that FX has signed on for a second season. My husband & i never missed an episode.I think TO is great as Raylan Givens!! Can’t wait to see what he gets himself into this season.
Ok, I’ve heard all the positive feed and order for second season of FX’s show “Justified” ,which kicks ass, when the f#@k is it going to air
I think FX has a better track record of any of the networks as far as sticking with a series even if it has a ratings dip. ABC is by far the worse and NBC is a close second. SOA and Justified are awesome and by far my favorite shows and I think FX deserves alot of credit.
Writing is superb. Believe that is what is missing from most TV shows and/or movies. Enjoy the complex personalities of the characters and the cast is perfect the way they play off one another. Never miss a show and have in depth dicussions each week with friends and neighbors. Good job FX. Terri
