How is it that Big 3 network NBC held its presentation at a hotel ballroom and the CW, the smallest broadcast net, at Madison Square Garden. And how come CW was the only net at the upfronts to bring out a big music star, Katy Perry? Its big brother CBS had William Shatner on the Carnegie Hall stage and he didn’t even sing. Also, Katy Perry showed how it’s done, performing live on stage. (I’m looking at you, Glee kids.)
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Nellie, Shatner doesn’t EVER sing. He SPEAKS. Like Rex Harrison. :O)
Well it’s CBS and the WB, two studios that can throw more money at the upfronts presentation. As oppose to NBC who still isn’t really sure who it’s daddy is.
if you have good stuff, you shouldn’t need to put on a dog and pony show and this time next year, no one will care about Katy Perry
Because NBC/Universal is a joke right now. It all started with their film division lining up the next two years with board game adaptations, unnecessary sequels, and ridiculous remakes. Then NBC had Lenogate of course. Then NBC held their upfront where a member of the press was able to sneak in. Then NBC cancelled shows with established fanbases in favor of new, seemingly crap programming….
It’s like the whole company is one big joke right now. They have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to greenlighting films and establishing their television lineup. They’re making bad decision after bad decision, and wondering why they’re struggling so profusely.
Everthing I read and heard was that Katy Perry cursed out the crowd because they would not get up and dance or raise their hands during her lame performance.
hush katy perry is all kinds of rad
You need all the flash and pizazz you can get if you’re desperate and don’t have much to show.
Wasn’t the CW presentation at the Theater at MSG? Big difference between that and the arena.
The CW upfront was at the 4500-seat Theater at Madison Square Garden, not inside the 20-thousand seat main arena.
Because Katy Perry runs about 14.95?
