UPDATE: I toldja there were 3 ways NBC was going to go, and we’d know as soon as today if series cancellation was the option chosen, and it’s now official. But NBC sources now tell me that the network is “working on a way to wrap up the show. That will be determined after the upfront.” Other insiders explain to me that NBC will soon commit to that 2-hour or 4-hour special event in midseason to reward Heroes fans. I just hope all these cancelled shows don’t get replaced by new shows that are equally uninventive. Let’s actually make a change in TV, let’s get even a little revolutionary, let’s make fun of ourselves in clever ways rather than making fun of how ridiculous we are. LA Sucks for example, would make a great new show. Maybe not on NBC, but somewhere – HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, FX, FOX.
Totally agree Xavier…that happens WAY too often.Speaking of LA…NBC goes about canceling Law and Order only to make Law and Order: Los Angels? And the Marriage Red? Gimme a break.
This is bull. Heroes was an amazing show NBC can’t cancell it!!. There gonna repalce it with more crapy sitcoms and lame ass dramas. They can’t cancel!
I don’t know if you had seen the last season. There’s a reason NBC is cancelling Heroes- the series has really gone down in quality in the last two series.
I myself liked the show before that.
I keep seeing people making such comments, but it leaves me wondering if they’re watching the same show. I thought the show went too slow in season 2 but did incredible stuff, and then season 3 was awesome. Season 4 had a different approach, but I really liked much of it. I didn’t notice any drop in the quality of the writing, acting, or production values.
i see wat u mean i loved season 3 season 4 was awesome too but theres no reason why they should cancel it they need to reopen it if not on nbc anouther channel or on the web and make us happy
I thought the series was finally back on track this last season. The Carnival was a great idea. I was looking forward to finding out more about the Govt facility in the 60′s and what happened to the original hereos there.
agree
Totally agree…This last season was awesome….Really gonna miss the show…

I don’t aggree! I cant believe they kept the office! are they dumb. really Heroes even though they screwed up alot of stuff was still fixable change one thing in the past and a whole new futer would emerge. there are so many possibilties with it that anyone could use thier imagination. they are already replacing a great show for stupid ones that no one will watch.. if NBC doesn’t save Hereos they will go bankrupt. and yes I feel strongly about saving it.. and none of you people can change my mind or that of my fellow devoted fans. we are picketing soon.. join us.
Save Heroes, and Save the World!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Anyway, here’s where the fun begins.
Bring on the fan protest. It should be a good one.
I expect there will be people excited about this, but I can’t see why. If you’re excited about the cancellation of a show that you don’t enjoy, you shouldn’t have been watching it to begin with.
I protest because without Hayden, who needs to watch TV?
Heroes sucked a FAT ONE after the first season anyway. Fourth season just screamed OVER!
That’s so true, if anything, Claire’s (Hayden) input in the show was one of the things that made it count.
I just can’t understand NBC can go this low, cancelling a show that has a huge fanbase, good ratings (last time I checked) and so much popularity internationally.
I’m just pissed!
After a year in the hospital, I decided to download every episode I had not been able to see, and I just couldn’t believe it when I couldn’t find a Volume six, then finding the news of the cancellation.
NBC is a disgrace to television for cancelling this show and keeping the dimwitted “I have nothing better to watch” shows on air. L&O? Poor acting.
What’s next? Spartacus S.2 get’s cancelled halfway because “oops, we had to cut costs somewhere”??
NBC clearly can’t make good decisions.
I am excited about a cancelation because I enjoyed the show, and they completely wrecked it. They had all the elements of a long lasting, masterpiece of a show, and they destroyed it because they are, simply put, lazy asses in writing dialogue, in directing, in EVERYTHING!!!
And that’s the worst part. They don’t lack abilities, the just don’t use them
Seems like Jeff Gaspin NBC is serious about getting rid of the toxic garbage at NBC. Good. Heroes was a great show in S1, but went downhill fast. Chuck on the other hand is a great fun show and NBC realizes what’s hurting it is a bad timeslot. I suspect that the show will do better on Wednesdays. Putting Chuck on Wednesdays would be smart
I just want to watch in joy as Heroes crashes and burns. Ah, remember six-seven years ago when Heroes fans mocked LOST fans saying that the producers of LOST didn’t know what the Hell they were doing? Haha, wow!
See… that’s the thing. Heroes wasn’t out six/seven years ago. So you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. How could Heroes fan complain when Heroes wasn’t even out? =/
Not even Lost was out 6-7 years ago, haha, so who’s to complain when neither actually exist?
It would have been odd to have another season next year. Hayden got breast implants after their shooting was done for this season. The little cheerleader would have went up two sizes out of nowhere.
They could have been part of a new power she developed.
This is bullcrap by NBC. They decide to go ahead with plans to give this show a proper send-off, but Las Vegas doesn’t deserve the same fate? I could care less if the show was CXLed two years ago…what’s fair is fair. Do it for Heroes, so have the cajunas to do it for Las Vegas, in the form of a two-hour series finale for all of us fans!
Should have been renewed – worldwide loyal audience, most downloads/ dvr etc of any nbc show, dvd sales – all add up to mucho $$$ for the network. Quite disappointed, to say the least … but nbc is the network that screwed over Conan so I guess I’m not surprised.
I should hope they would try to do something to rectify the huge mess they’ve made. What were TPTB thinking at NBC when they cancelled Heroes?
So, ‘rewarding’ the fans by canceling a show they loved by tossing them a 2 hour finale. Some reward. And slipping on some other ‘superhero’ show in its place. Because we KNOW these shows are all interchangeable. *sigh*
Reward the fans by bringing the show back, promoting it, and quit changing its timeslot and putting it up against shows like House, and then acting like the ratings slip is its slot, when it was the MOST D/L show on tv.
Which isn’t a matter of piracy, after all, the show as free to watch in its allotted time slot. People were working to find and d/l a show they could watch for free by just pressing a button. This seems to imply that the problem wasn’t the SHOW. People don’t download, and even purchase (see ITunes ratings on Heroes episodes) shows they think suck.
Kudos to NBC for doing a finale.
Riiight. NBC can figure out some way to eke two or four hours out of their schedule to bid farewell to one of the worst written (after the first season) and worst handled series in recent memory, but won’t give Law & Order a decent send off. What a bunch of putzes.
Why does NBC need to give Heroes any favors and give it a neat little wrap-up? How is Heroes any different from all the other canceled series that were unceremoniously yanked off the air without any care for wrapping things up with a nice little bow?
NBC should just give it up and move on.
Because Heroes is a good show
I hate it was canceled but would love it to see a ending. Heroes made my Monday nights.
so its been axed, but there is still a plan for future episodes.
not a very effective axe
Clearly the right decision, BUT though I know it’s a highly unpopular opinion, I actually hope they do get that finale event. I’d honestly watch just to see how it ends. Well, as long as they bring Nathan, i.e. Adrian Pasdar, back to life for it I would. The point at which they released Pasdar was the point at which I finally abandoned all hope and switched off.
What’s blowing me away is that I agree with a lot of what NBC is doing this week.
actully the reward is Hero’s fans are finaly put out of their misery of watching the once good show become worse then it has been any more.
So Heroes can get a finale event, while L & O gets nothing? How satupid and classless is that?
It should be two hours, max. NBC would regret devoting 4 hours to this ratings loser.
Dam…Heroes…my favorite TV show canceled, can’t say I’m surprised, since the ratings were not as good as from the start, but come on, this sucks, at least wrap it up, how can it just end on that note?
Well, let’s see if the SyFy channel ponies up the money to take on this project. 5 million viewers is a lot better than usual for them, so it’s definitely in their own best interest. They just need to avoid the temptation to ‘tweak a few things’ if they do. Stick to the series bible, allow character conflict to drive the focus, and above all keep the bad guys interesting.
Stick to the series bible, allow character conflict to drive the focus, and above all keep the bad guys interesting.
You should’ve told Kring that while they were writing season 2.
After the first season, Kring was constantly butting heads with NBC execs because they were interfering with the show’s plot lines. The writers had their hands tied.
The failure rests squarely on NBC for meddling with something that didn’t need fixing.
Hey- didn’t Family Guy make fun of that in an episode of this season?
they better do that, i would hate to see heroes end the way it did!
WHY GOD? WHY???
Really? Wow, pretty stupid thinking for NBC (well, and to be honest, for you for not mentioning it). First rule of biz: never announce anything you don’t have the talent locked down for (and talent didn’t know any more than you did obviously).
How can NBC possibly have a 2 hour or a 4 hour planned for midseason when their talent is now off contract? A show in its 4th or 5th year is given a minimum of 13 or a SAG minimum which is much more than 2 or 4 hours (yes, even with a weak union on its knees like SAG).
That would mean NBC has no intention of doing this or is totally over a barrel as now the principals are free agents.
Sounds like NBC and this blog haven’t been doing their homework on how TV works.
