Paramount just scheduled JJ Abrams’ Super 8 for Summer 2011 (JJ Abrams Unveiling ‘Super 8′ Teaser Trailer) and Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible 4 (which is close to hiring Brad Bird as the director) for December 16, 2011.

Why would paramount release MI4 during the winter season. The previous three were all big summer tent poles. This is a franchise made for summer time popcorn audiences. It will fail miserably against the Oscar contenders. Big mistake on the dec release
Tom Cruise again??!! Boring.
Maybe they can get Joe Carnahan for MI:4. After all, they got Vaughn for the new X-men movie.
If this movie kills at the b.o. then it really is the end of western civilization as we know it. I can’t think of a more worthless franchise than M:I. After the 3rd one they should’ve rebooted the whole thing and make it more in tandem with the original series which still holds up. Bourne and Bond have taken over the collective conscious as the lone spy. Who gives a rat fuck about Ethan Hunt?
I still don’t really get the anti-Cruise brigade!!! I admit, the guy went through a crazy ‘jumping on couches’ phase 6 or so years ago but really! Even Par decided to pact with him again, he still attracts the best directors around (he was commendable in Valkyrie) and SURELY he has not really done anything in the past couple of years that warrants all this HATING WITH A PASSION. I for one would be first in line to see what he and JJ come up with this time around. The 3rd film was very good, I believe it only got overshadowed by THAT phase of his career and hence got some bad press.
Dying hard to see this movie coming.love you tom cruise.want to see anil kapoor making action.
