Smallville was headed to an end of its run this season when it got a somewhat surprising renewal. That won’t happen next season, which will be the Superguy series’ 10th and last. Star Tom Welling let the news slip in an interview with deadline.com sister site HollywoodLife.com yesterday. Welling may have been too excited about getting his first series pickup as a producer yesterday when the CW ordered his cheerleading drama Hellcats.

I’ll be sad to see the end of Smallville, but I think it’s time. I’m sure season 10 will be the proper conclusion to a wonderful journey. Tom Welling is and always will be my Superman. I wish him luck in his career and I hope we’ll get to see him in other great roles in the future.
Smallville has been my favorite Superman version. I know comic book geeks will freak out over that, but like most people, I found Superman boring. Too godlike. Too perfect. Can never make mistakes. Can never be really threatened. It is deadly dull stuff.
Smallville’s version of Superman has always been more complex and interesting to me. He is fallible, but noble. He has been in mortal danger. He has loved and had his heart broken. He has had his triumphs and a few bitter defeats. We watch him grow and change. This is the best version of Superman to me and the only one that feels “real” rather than a boring cut out.
Very sad that season 10 is the last! I hope they plan to make some sequel or maybe a film, that would be very nice… !!!! Tom you’re the best!!!
Becauce of Hellcats or that cheerleader show Tom Welling is leaving. the show Smallville got to his head and ego! Smallville would last past season 10 if Welling got down to earth. Tom Welling is wearing a new Superman uniform, flying and wearing Clark Kent glasses what more could we want? The show would last a long time when Tom would change formats and change the title? Be a real Superman Tom and SAVE Smallville some how!!! Remember no Welling no Superman.

Don’t worry, you and the other Chloisers can just re-watch the kiss from the Season 5 finale over and over again and convince yourselves that that’s the way the show should have ended.
