With Conan O’Brien’s new late-night show for TBS still months away, the cable network has picked up an one-hour special featuring some of O’Brien’s writers, including regular sidekick Andy Richter and Reggie Watts. Tentatively titled Team Coco presents Conan’s Writers Live, it is based on a stage show that has played to sold-out audiences in Los Angeles. The showcase will be taped on June 17 at the Bank of America Theater in Chicago as part of TBS’ Just For Laughs festival. The special, which will premiere on TBS on June 27, will also feature the musical stylings of comedian Watts, who is opening for O’Brien on The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.

I’m guessing “Conan’s Writers Live” won’t feature any funny women since he didn’t have any on The Tonight Show staff. Or maybe he’s hired some for the TBS show?
I’m guessing “Conan’s Writers Live” won’t feature any funny women since there aren’t any.
You’re both ridiculous.
It’s chauvinistic… but it’s funny cause it’s true.
um… christina gausas who is very funny was a writer for conan when he was in new york …. so stfu for not knowing what u are talking about
This piece of wisdom was told to me another comedy writer, also a man:
Some women are funny and some women are not funny but all men who think all women are not funny are not funny.
Christina was NOT a writer, she acted in sketches!!
What are these “funny women?”
boystown, do you honestly think hilarious women didnt get the gig because of a lack of penis? or could it possibly be that the men that got the jobs were better?
@Boystown – RIGHT ON. Conan O’Brien is just another unfunny unattractive guy. TBS thing is depressing and pathetic.

Tina Fey
is gross.
Funniest thing on the tour is Deon Cole.
I think you are mistaking Reggie Watts with Deon Cole. Deon is a writer on the show and does standup in the middle of the show.
No mistake, I saw the show. Reggie opens the show and is entertaining, but I wouldn’t call it laugh out loud funny. Deon did some hilarious standup. On what basis would you say fan is mistaken? Presumptuous much?
Deon Cole is the funniest thing on the tour.
Deon is hilarious
Conan needs to bury The Boo Hoo Tour right quick — the goodwill has long since dried up.
Go Jay!
Whatever this is and who ever is in it, it had better make a good showing because it’s the canary in the coalmine for the Conan Late Night series premiering in the fall. If this special doesn’t deliver it doesn’t bode well for the talker.
I saw one of the LA stand up shows they did and the writers were great.
Hey, they should include this EPIC “LOST” parody:

Carol Burnett. Lily Tomlin. Joan Rivers. Betty White. Tina Fey. Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Catherine O’Hara. Andrea Martin. Jane Curtin. Courtney Cox. Lisa Kudrow. Jenna Elfman. Kathy Griffin. Carol Leifer. Amy Poehler. Molly Shannon. Ana Gasteyer. Alex Borstein. Mo Collins. Stephnie Weir. Nicole Sullivan. Debra Wilson. Paula Poundstone. Joan Cusack. Gilda Radner (RIP). Lucille Ball (RIP).
Iliza Shlesinger, I just love her stand up.
Thanks for proving my point by listing a bunch of unfunny hags. BTW, most of these people are actresses who recite funny lines written by male comedy writers, I don’t see your point.
Really? All of those women listed are unfunny? That seems pretty reactionary considering that list spans so many eras, styles, and formats of comedy.
And as for these women not writing their own stuff: Tina Fey- Head Writer, SNL, Head Writer 30 Rock, Amy Poehler, Co-Creator/Writer of Upright Citizens Brigade on Comedy Central, Carol Burnett- Head Writer of The Carol Burnett show, Gilda Radner- created nearly all of her famous characters, Joan Rivers, Carol Leifer, Lily Tomlin- wrote the vast majority of their own standup.
And the list of hilarious comediennes who create and write their stuff is certainly much longer than that. I don’t think it’s the quality of the humor that is the issue for you. More likely we can trace it back to some funny girl who rejected you in high school.
Give her a call, man. Maybe she’ll give you another shot and you’ll stop embarrassing yourself with this “women aren’t funny” schtick.
Oh, I’m sorry. I guess we didn’t know that your opinion of what is or isn’t funny is way it is. Our deepest apologies.
I truly wish the writers the best of luck because they follow Conan out here, he did not fight to stay at the tonight show, and then word on the street is that they did not pay the writers to write for the tour. Hopefully the last bit has been rectified.
Phyllis Diller, Elaine May, Moms Mabley, Minnie Pearl, Carrie Fisher, Nora Ephron, Erma Bombeck, Cathy Guisewite, Carrie Fisher…on and on….not to mention all the great comedic actresses from Jean Arthur, Irene Dunne, Rosalind Russell to the likes of Sandra Bullock…
about 70% of the names you just listed I’ve never heard of. I believe we’re not talking about funny women you saw in a random film but funny women who are headliners – there are none. There has never been a women “comic” who has come anywhere close to amassing huge audiences and taking in a $20 mil per film paycheck. I can think of about 8 males who do that just off the top of my head.
You’ve discredited your opinion to judge humor by listing Cathy Guisewite on a list purporting to contain funny people.
Deon Cole! Deon Cole! Deon Cole!
