Granted, it sounds ridiculous. But was the foiled Saturday car bombing attempt in Time Square a retaliation against Comedy Central for airing the infamous Mohammed arc on South Park? The theory, which stems from the the fact that the explosives-laden SUV was parked right next to the headquarters of Comedy Central’s parent company Viacom, quickly gained popularity Sunday, with no less than a New York Congressman — U.S. Rep. Peter King — among those who called the connection “a possibility.” Last month, a New York-based radical Muslim group threatened to kill South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker over the show’s depiction of Prophet Mohammed.

Since the driver of the vehicle on the security camera film was white and middle aged, maybe he was a disgruntled Real American and the target was The Daily Show . . .
And then again, it’s Broadway and 7th Avenue. An Army recruiting office is also nearby, as well as about a hundred other possible terrorist targets. Obviously nothing should be ruled out, but pointing to South Park specifically at this point involves more than a couple logical fallacies.

I’m against profiling, but it certainly doesn’t help my argument when 99% of terrorists are Muslim (Yes, I made up that percentage. 100% wouldn’t be factual but it sure would appear close.). For every Timothy McViegh there is a COUNTRY of terrorists praising “Allah” for the death of Westerners whether they be man, woman or child.
I have two responses to this, not sure which tactic to use. Do I go with…
1) The “blowing your entire argument out of the water with one quippy rhetorical question” route?
or
2) Dismissive snark?

If it did, then you’d understand that the rest of your statement categorically disagrees with it.

For every “Jihadist”, there’s a COUNTRY of “Americans” who think that all Arabs are Muslims and all Muslims are Arabs, and all of them are evil, angry terrorists, be they man, woman or child.

South Park was censored and still they try to bomb us? Replay the episode the way it was made.
Maybe a bit extreme, but the episode was totally worth the bombing.

BTW, if you’re going to bomb a TV Network because of something that aired on a cartoon show, you don’t do it on a Saturday Night when none of the employees are toiling away at HQ.
You do it in the middle of the morning to maximize the coverage on GMA, Today, Fox and Friends, etc.
Why would it be ridiculous? A Muslim from Somalia journeyed thousands of miles to Denmark, just to kill obscure Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard. Even more obscure Dutch cartoonist “Gregorious Neckshot” has been threatened with death, and obscure Theo Van Goh, a guy I’d never heard of, was murdered for a film I never heard of.
Death threats carried out, are common by Muslims, over every trivial thing. Obscure Swedish cartoonist Lars Viks, with his “rundlehunds” has been threatened with death, over drawing a turbaned dog (the rundlehund thing apparently makes sense if you’re Swedish).
America is already effectively a Muslim country, because Islam through realistic threats of violence, has special, privileged, unique treatment. Anyone can disparage Christianity or Judaism, but no one dares even mildly criticize Islam because Muslims will do their best to kill anyone who utters it.
This is why Hollywood is not “brave” (they are all cowards) in attacking “safe” targets like Evangelicals (who don’t travel thousands of miles to kill people) and why no one respects Hollywood’s independence: because they rolled over as Muslims made America defacto Islamic.
Implying that a single action by a pay-cable entity informs the religious faith of an entire country is asinine.
If Comedy Central’s decision to censor SOUTH PARK, made you question your faith – that seems to indicate that your faith wasn’t all that unflappable to start with.
Rewording the accusation to suggest that *Comedy Central* is effectively Muslim, due to their choices is still a stupid thing to say, but at least it tracks logically from misinformed point to misinformed point.
I’m pretty sure that Theo, Kurt, Gregorious and Lars would object to being labeled “obscure” because an American wasn’t familiar with their work. Are you familiar with ANY Dutch cartoonists? Or should we assume that only artists with content on FOX are on your radar?

Trying to frame the right on this issue of the times square car bomb is stupid. For one thing the investigation has been moved into the relm of international terrorism. Ever homegrown terrorism? It doesn’t have to be right wing nor left wing..Islamist Jihadis just recruit from the net that simple. By the way this still an ongoing investigation. I might add.
