Congrats to Denzel!
Man, Denzel freakin rocks.
Congrats to both Denzel and Viola (one of the most UNDERRATED actresses working in Hollywood today!!!!!!)
I just wish Denzel could get better scripts/roles for the Big Screen. I haven’t really liked anything he was recently in since Inside Man (2006), the Great Debaters (2007) and Remember the Titans (2000)…. Oh, and I thought Man on Fire (2004) was ok.
But I really didn’t care much for The Book of Eli (2010) or the Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3 (2009)
Maybe a Big Screen rendering of “Fences” is just what the doctor ordered!
What do y’all think?
so nikke, how about focusing the story on how wme paid A LOT of money to get john buzzetti from gersh, and gersh ends up winning the night with memphis… this is a very very interesting turn of events
DENZEL!! Congrats sir!! (In the even that you’ll read this.) The show was amazing, his performance was excellent. I’m already excited for the likely “Fences” film.
were they that desperate to hand the Tonys out to Hollywood and not to BWay talent who work 2x harder?
Way to go, Scarlett!
Denzel’s got the two hardest down… He’s a TV guest spot and a spoken word album away from the EGOT… Take that Tracy Jordan
How FELA! lost to the derivative crapfest of MEMPHIS is unbelievable to me. Until you consider the probable voting age of anyone who gets to vote for a TONY.
Still. It’s sad to see the Tony’s relegated to such stunning irrelevance.
Well I guess you haven’t seen Memphis. Crapfest???? I couldn’t have been more uninterested with anything I saw last night as I was with Fela. Not sure what your implication is regarding the age of Tony voters, when you look at the range of shows I’m not sure how that comment applies.
That beyond laughable performance of Send in the Clowns by Catherine Zeta-Jones was Tony-worthy???!!! In what universe?
Sadly, the great Sondheim must have lost his marbles to let her take on his brilliant material.
Had to agree her head moving side to side constantly had me laughing. Her winning was a mistake.
Of all the many thousands of renditions of that song I’ve heard, THAT was the worst! Ghastly!
Viola Davis is always excellent in any role she undertakes. No matter how big or how small her characters are always believable in movies ,on television and yes on the theater stage. Congratulations!!! May the roles and awards continue to come her way.
Bravo to Memphis. I’ve seen it twice. Best play I’ve seen in years! Thought Montego Glover (from Memphis) should have captured Best Actress/Musical. Catherine Zeta-Jones had all the grace and charm of a ventriloquist’s puppet in her performance at the Tony Awards last night. What’s with all that head wiggling?
You deserve it adam
Can we talk about the horrible sound issues that seem to be an epidemic at the Tonys? Dead mics, too-hot mics, offstage chatter during musical numbers – all problems from last year’s telecast that repeated this year, perhaps even worse! It’s 2010! Isn’t there anyone in New York that’s sussed out the technology?
