EXCLUSIVE: Reality powerhouse A&E has teamed with Ryan Seacrest and top British self-help guru Paul McKenna for a new reality project, tentatively titled The Incurables. I hear the cable network, home of such docu series about afflictions as Intervention, Obsessed and Hoarders, has ordered a pilot for The Incurables, which will offer a look into the lives of ordinary people on the verge of a personal crisis over their irrational behavior.
Each 60-minute episode would feature McKenna trying to help two ‘incurable’ people with different psychological and/or physical conditions using his transformation techniques. Examples include the uncontrollable shouting and bizarre facial tics of a man suffering from Tourettes Syndrome and the shocking sight of a woman pulling out and eating her own hair (Tricotilla Mania). Ryan Seacrest Prods. and McKenna Media are producing, with Intervention executive producer Mettler, Seacrest and Paul Mckenna executive producing.

seriously? it’s come to this? watching a woman eat her own hair is considered entertainment?
You left out Mettler’s first name: it’s Sam.
The one psychological disorder that i have noticed none of these hypnotherapists being able to cure is generalized social phobia or Social anxiety disorder. they all claim to be able to cure it but i have gone to loads of hypnotherapists including Elliot walde based in luton who charges 600 euro a session and he was trained by paul mckenna and he didn’t cure it and i have noticed paul mckenna never treated anyone on his TV shows with generalized social phobia. 5-13% of most countries population suffer from this debilitating disorder and it would be very impressive if he could help someone with it because at the moment theirs no real proper cure besides CBT and half the people who do it dont respond at all to it
I agree with Sean, I would love to see paul Mckenna cure social phobia, I dont think it would be easy get someone with social phobia go on TV but it would be really impressive if he could relieve someone of their major symptoms like blushing trembling and stuttering. Come on paul lets see what your made of
I think it would be impressive to get someone with social anxiety on tv because cause that that would show for sure that they were cured, all they hav to do is get someone with social phobia to agree to be recorded, i dont think it will happen, i think its too complex
I think this is an amazing show. I am currently dealing with agoraphobia and have been housebound for 2 years now and I think this show will not only help those who suffer with conditions as such but will get awareness out there about conditions dealing with anixety/panic disorders among with agoraphobia. I have been trying get word out about there for years now and no one seems to want to understand.
