Alice Eve is now in negotiations to play Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, the 20th Century Fox prequel that Matthew Vaughn will direct. Her power in the mutant universe is telepathy, and she was voted Hottest Comic Book Babe of 2005 in one poll. She started out as an X-Men nemesis and became an ally. Eve joins James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, previously set as lead mutants Xavier and Magneto. Also in the Marvel pantheon, Tommy Lee Jones has been confirmed to play Colonel Phillips in Captain America: The First Avenger, the Joe Johnston-directed Marvel Studios film that Paramount will distribute.

I read on Comicbookmovie.com that Joss Whedon was in London the past few weeks hanging out with the Captain America movie crew because he’s rewriting the script.
That means Captain America will suck big time. Whedon couldn’t even turn in a finished script for Wonder Woman.
Hmmm … uber-hard leftist Feminist writing Boy’s Own Adventure WWII hero Captain America. What could possibly go wrong?
The studio didn’t know what to do with Wonder Woman (and still doesn’t). He couldn’t turn in a script because they said no to everything he pitched.
I guess that you never watched Firefly like most people here, its roguish hero is pure Han Solo
Considering that he’s one of the greatest script doctors around, your comment is completely off base. “Toy Story” ring any bells?
I’d love to see Rihanna cast as a young Storm.
HELL YEAH! Or Dazzler! She has such a melodic voice. I love her!
Me too. Matter a fact, I love that idea
I don’t think so, LC. Rihanna is an even worse actress than she is a singer. If Keke Palmer’s agents aren’t all over this, then that girl needs new people.
AGREED! excellent choice and casting an actress is always preferable. Rihanna, singer is gorgeous and stylish but so is Keke, very talented actress.
NOW, I want to see this!!!!!
I have yet to understand why Emma Frost is even in this film in the first place. The “First Class” of X-Men were Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Jean Grey, and Archangel. I’m assuming that the producers are under the impression that people want to see all kinds of superpowered teens but it’s my opinion that if they were to limit the team to the original five or for that matter any five, that would allow for real character development instead of the special FX disaster that will probably be produced. They are aiming for quantity which will most likely result in poor quality.
Great Comment J.A. It’s rare to find someone making comments that are both educated (from a comic book standpoint) and intelligent. I’m always wondering where the purist fanboys are?? I only ever read comments from posers who never read the comics, but seem to know everything where it concerns the adaptations.
Maybe its because films have to appeal to a much wider audience than comic book fans. Maybe its because film is a different media than film. Have you ever stepped back and read comic book dialogue?
Work great in print, sounds bad if real life people are speaking the words.
The post may have sounded well thought out but it still came from an extremely myopic viewpoint.
The 2 best examples of changes made for films are the organic webs in the Spiderman flicks and the X-men uniforms. The comic book versions work fine in print but would have been extremely hokey on screen. Hell, the 1st X-men even did a one liner with regards to the costumes.
The trouble with fans, of anything, is that they develop a pinhole view of the thing they like and expect the general public to have that same laser focus.
The comics are the comics, no movie can “ruin” them. Its not like the comics all burst into flame as soon as the movie version is released.
So, just take a step back and see the much bigger picture. As much as we like the comics, they have to appeal to far more than us fans to be successful.
U sir are soooo right! I agree completely, this may be headed down the same path as X-men Origins – Wolverine!
Zoe Kravitz for Storm.
Joss Whedon is a great writer. Buffy, Angel and Firefly were great shows and are often cited by tv critics as some of the great tv series of all time. Dollhouse was only bad because the network interfered with it.
Dont’ forget Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. One of my favorite pieces of all time. The dialogue is great in there.
“Dollhouse” wasn’t bad, just kind of a downer. I’ve yet to see the 2nd season, but the 1st was really fascinating. Just really gloomy…
Firefly was so over rated. I’d give it a 5 out of 10. Apparently movie audiences couldn’t get above 2. And hence, no sequel.
Does ANY here really want to plank down $14 to see a movie called WONDER WOMAN?
Do you think any rational human being would want to pay $14 to see a film called WONDER WOMAN if there wasn’t Something else one level above crap playing? Jeeze! The whole idea of WONDER WOMAN is moronic. Where any of you people who are complaining about it not being made the ones who paid to see SHEENA, QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE? And as for Joss Whedan … no write with an IQ above room temperature would ever exect it to get made. They’re just collecting money for the rent. So – will someone PLEASE get a few rational human beings back here writing in the Comments Section??
Hmm… You might have a point, let’s see if the numbers check out:
1) Super hot chick in revealing outfit. Check
2) Said hot chick kicks all sorts of ass. Check
Yeah, you’re right; judging from the popularity of such franchises as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Alien”, “Terminator”, “Underworld”, “Xena: Warrior Princess” and so on, the Tough Chick genre is WAY played out…
Please note: The preceding is DRIPPING with sarcasm. Please act accordingly.
Yeah, lots of people went running to see Barb Wire…
I want to see Emma Frost as the White Queen with the Hellfire Club set up as villains for a second movie, not as the current X-Man version. We need the Phoenix story done right unlike X3, and since this is a reboot, use the original 5 X-Men! (maybe Wolverine cameo)
@Jon Chambers: calm down dude.
we are talking about comic books here. 99% of the premises are ludricious as a title, a premise, a story with respect to our reality. ever heard of vampires & werewolves? where do they come from, i wonder?
if the Twilight Saga ans SOTC has proven anything to the studios the last 2/3 years, is that an established female women/teen story will sell like hotcakes. WW is the “creme de la creme” of female strength & empowerment in comic culture and beyond. do your homework before you muss up the comments board.
well emma frost was already in wolverine and since it is meant as a prequel that pretty much excludes cyclops iceman and archangel as well as colossus, in terms of wonder woman if it gets made and it looks good it will do good…if it looks like elektra it wont (regardless of how empowering it is to women)
This being a prequel to the original Xmen films doesn’t necesarily exclude cyclops since he was in Origins (which was also a prequel, as well) along with Emma Frost.
Joss Whedon is a good choice to rewrite the Captain America script. The first X-men movie was great.
I’ve been an X-Men fan for 30 years which is the only reason the first X-Men movie is in my collection, and I waited to buy it until after the X2 DVD came out, as I got the collection which had both movies in one package. X-Men was a terrible movie.
It doesn’t matter if it’s true to the comics. Emma Frost is the greatest. Also Dazzler, Jubilee, Psylocke, annd Polaris.. (sigh)
so far x-men, x2, and x3 all blew…….. dont get me wrong there entertaining and since you watch them as a kid you wanna see the movie buuuuuuuuutttttttttt sucked they need to stick to the comics, theres a reason why they have been around for so long if you keep it atleast somewhat close it would make for a far better movies
That’s too bad that they didn”t get someone younger to play Cap. For drying out loud, a super-soldier played by an old man that once played Two-Face in a Batman flop of a movie. After that performance I wonder how Cap will look on screen, just make sure the oxygen tank is near by.
@Sean MacDonald:
You sir, are an idiot.
Or, at the very least, COMPLETELY unfamiliar with the story you’re whining will be ruined.
Steve Rogers is Captain America, ok? Colonel Phillips is a SUPPORTING CHARACTER…
Feel better now…??
Don’t forget, as Two Face, Tommy Lee Jones had to wear makeup on half his face to make it look like Harvey Dent.
Tommy Lee-Jones as Captain America? He’s been cast as his commanding officer, so fret not.
Anyway, Chris Evans has been cast as Cap. I personally think he’ll do him justice as the clean-cut all american hero!
Sean, Tommy Lee Jones is not playing Cap in this movie! Read the article again and maybe do some research on Captain America’s real identity!
