After The Karate Kid‘s opening weekend gross of $56 million blew past its $40 million budget, a sequel to the Jaden Smith-Jackie Chan-starrer seemed inevitable. Sure enough, agency sources tell me that Sony’s Columbia Pictures execs are meeting with writers to pitch their ideas on where to take the second installment. This will mean shortly that Will Smith won’t be the only man in the Smith household making sequels.

There should be a sequel. I say something should happen with Mr. Han and the teacher. Alone with Jaden and new bullies. The updated Karate Kid is way better than the old ones!
Have to agree with most of the comments thatif you had not seen the first one you would have enjoyed this one.
Theone who said it was all in the merchandising got that right though
all the negative people dogging the movie are sad one person says “the blame is on YOU” but in order to have anything to say about the movie you must have seen it also….so when does the blame fall on the bitter haters who just cant let go of the past, hey i say make a second one let the kid have a career does it really bother u that much. if so i suggest getting a life.
