Columbia Pictures has made another deal with its Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. The filmmaker has signed on to develop to direct Babe in the Woods, a Mike White-scripted comedy about a female freshman who arrives at Yale and is targeted by the New Jersey mob. White and David Bernad are producing for White’s Rip Cord banner. It’s a priority project for Colpix presidents Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad.
Columbia is also expected to get distribution rights to the Media Rights Capital comedy 30 Minutes or Less, and the studio is working with Fleischer on a sequel to Zombieland, which was his feature helming debut. Fleischer is directing Danny McBride as a pizza deliveryman, with Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg also starring and Ben Stiller’s Red Hour producing. Fleischer separately set an untitled pitch at DreamWorks which he’ll direct and produce with Nicholas Stoller and Gavin Polone.

Wow looks gr8. I will see anything Dave Bernad produces. He has got to be the best young producer out there. Keep rockin Mikey White!!!
I’m pumped!
Agree about Bernad… that kid is a star!!
I can remember about five years ago when Ruben looking for people to help with his no budget music videos on Craigslist, now he’s a big time director. Way to go!
Mike White is genius.
“Zombieland” showed Fleischer to be that rare director who can shoot action-comedy. Sounds like he should have dircted “Knight and Day”…
His next project is BABE IN THE WOODS? How bad is development hell at the studio? That script was floating around when I was an assistant at William Morris back in 1997!
With all due respect, David Bernad hasn’t produced a single film so don’t understand the first comment that “he has got to be the best young producer out there.” Don’t mean to be a hater, but you should first get a few up on the board before earning that title!
Mike White is almost funny in a self consciously quirky, uncomfortable way. Not a genius.
Clearly this Dave Bernard guy is posting on himself – the same crap is all over his imdb page as well with user names who registered the same day they commented and left just one post only in their entire history…about how ‘great’ Dave is. ah whatever, I’m sure he’s a nice dude. but still – rather obvious, sad and shameless. just make good movies first man and the accolades will follow. stop the fake it till you make it crap.
Hey Magnum PI don’t you have anything better to do than investigate message boards and track history of posts and validate the sources. To answer your question Dave has not posted anything. It so happens he just has friends that believe in him and his work and have his back. Perhaps your career would be going better if instead of spending your time worrying about others you would just focus on your business.
Way Obvious and Terry,
You two are clearly morons if you think David is self-glossing himself on comment sections across the Internets. David likely has friends who have a sense of humor and probably posted on this comments section in a joking manner. Quit being jealous and just accept the comment section for what it is…a place where wackos like you and I go to give our two cents. Comment sections never made anybody’s career.
Furthermore, it could be worse…he could be named “Terry.” I mean are you serious? Terry? Take your ass back to Denny’s, ring up my Grand Slam breakfast, and leave your script so I can wipe my ass with it later.
OUT.
“Fake it till you make it”
I want to put that on a t-shirt.
Congrats to Ruben! Hardest working and nicest guy around.
