TBS gave Conan O’Brien a new show. Now the cable network is trying to help him get an Emmy for his old one.
Starting today, TBS is launching a “for your consideration” campaign in support of O’Brien with two ads. Neither of them mentions the name of O’Brien’s previous employer, NBC, or the show he is eligible for, The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien. But the ads are a clever way to get attention (O’Brien is getting no Emmy support from NBC for obvious reasons) and double as promos for O’Brien’s new show on TBS, which launches on November 8.
“Conan’s great work in 2009 and 2010 deserves Emmy consideration,” Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said in a statement. “We’re very excited to have him join TBS later this year.”
