DC Comics has just given me exclusively this graphic art by Don Kramer, the new artist for the “updated” Wonder Woman comic book. (Copyright DC Comics)
My own thoughts about her: DC Comics Has Ruined Wonder Woman!
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I like the white trash angle. Look what it did for Eminem. Finally, if anything it reveals the sharp brained folks at WB creative and justifies their inflated salaries. “how do we make Wonder Woman current?”. And this is what they arrive at…genius.
I like it. The original Wonder Woman costume was dated and would look silly in a contemporary film. I think it’s one of the reasons a film hasn’t gotten of the ground. She needed an update. And you all are missing the point…I’m guessing the fanboys and comic geeks will love this. Like it or not, it’s completely consistent with how women are portrayed in the comic/graphic novel world.
Appearing at a strip club near you.
People get over yourselves, this isnt the end of the world, cities wont collapse and mountains wont crumble, its a comic STORYLINE.
A storyline dealing with an altered timeline. Relax, I suspect that in time, the costume we all know and love will be back.
In the meantime, sit down, shut up and enjoy the ride.
the red and gold middle part works. The jacket and the pants don’t work. She doesn’t work. May work better as as skirt like the Golden Age Wonder Woman.
She’s changed her dress with the times before. Here she is when women wore skirts:

And here she is when women wore bathing suits everywhere or something:

Women wear pants nowadays, so why shouldn’t wonder woman?
I tried to read Wonder Woman when Allan Heinberg started writing it. That was a big failure. Lasted 5 issues that they couldn’t even publish on time. I think there was a new costume even then! And I know I have seen this controversial costume similarly rendered back in the 90s.
Anyway DC has been a disaster since Infinite Crisis. I gave up on them.
Yeah, I’m in the camp that everyone needs to chill on this. I think DC is trying to make their costuming more translatable to film and grittier. I mean, this design isn’t perfect. It needs some tweaks and revisions. But the spirit of change behind it is a good thing. A chick in a bathing suit fighting crime would be shot dead in like 2 seconds.
don’t like it…they done it so other countries would not be so offended …personally she should be in traditional red white and blue original costume design…i guess every nations colors are o.k but america’s!…so sad…and the sexist boob job and tights are just pathetic…she is now just a super slutty hooker…
notice how they removed all trace of the stars and stripes from her costume…that’s part of the iconic look, you retards, it’s like taking away Superman’s S shield
she looks like some dykes on bikes reject on 80s night
I am confused, where was Nikki when Gail Simone was writing the title? Where was the support for Gail on her run?
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/27/books/27simo.html
My guess is the change is intended to improve sales. OMHO, and no offense to prior writers, but if the book was selling gang busters it wouldn’t have gotten a new creative team.
I have a great idea for Nikki, rather than “free Wonder Woman”, how about you start a campaign to purchase TPBs from Gail Simone’s run?
Straight outta the 1990s — it’s Wonder Woman! That awful jacket! The “edgy” choker! The skintight pleather pants! Yeah, she’s “modern” and “urban” now!
I think my favorite part is how DC tried to make it seem like the costume change is in answer to female fans’ complaints … and then gave her Power Girl-sized tatas. Yeah, that’s a real feminist update, boys!
Really, the only entertaining part of this whole thing has been reading the hilarious comments here, on DC’s Facebook page and on DC’s blog entry about the “change.” Way to alienate the few diehard Wonder Woman fans out there. THAT’LL get sales to finally rise!
Comic books always seem about 10-15 years behind. Jeez, how long did Superman and Nightwing have those terrible mullets?
Since when is Wonder Woman an American?
Last I checked, she was an Amazon warrior with Greek heritage.
Yes, she is Greek but she came to America and lived and worked with the government for America values. Thus the original red, white, and blue. Many people are of other ethnic backgrounds and become Americans…so did she. Geeze.
Didn’t they change Diana’s costume back in the 90s to something similar? The Liefeldian black cropped jacket? And this redheaded chick took over the WW mantle? I think it was when Mike Deodato was drawing it. No matter, they’ll go back to the classic look soon enough.
Attn females: Comics are a male fantasy thing. If you don’t like big boobs on superheroines don’t read the comics. Simple. You don’t hear me bitching about that Twilight garbage you all swoon over.
Great anorexic w/ fake boobs. She needs to use all of her superpowers to stand up.
Terrible, absolutely terrible. Bad design and bad execution all rolled into one.
H…O…R…R…I…B…L…E!!!!!!
I can’t stop commenting on this – it’s oddly addictive.
So, considering the ta-tas, pleather pants, platform clogs, and biker slut jacket – what do we think she’s actually going to do with that whip? I shudder. Someone go find Charlie Sheen – quick! He may be in trouble…
Why all the hate? Look at how many times they’ve changed Batman’s costume
Wonder Woman is an Amazonian warrior.
According to Greek Mythology, the Amazonian warriors were an all female tribe from around Syria/Turkey.
In order to modernize her story, and yet keep it grounded in the “real world” – Wonder Woman should technically be Muslim. Her new outfit should be a burka.
And seeing how the creators’ intentions in inventing a female hero was to give the world a champion for sexual equality and women’s liberation – that sure would make for some interesting discussions.
Instead, here we are, staring at her tits.
“Instead, here we are, staring at her tits.”
Why do you say that like it’s a bad thing?
Soooo… changing her out of a retarded strapless swimsuit is sexist?
Oh, and where were all the “offended” die hard fans when Gail was writing Wonder Woman… oh that’s right, you weren’t buying the book. I’m sorry, but I can’t take her seriously when she’s running around in her star spangled swimsuit (which was also retarded since she’s NOT American!).
Don Kramer? The new design was designed by Jim Lee! Kramer may be doing the art for this run, but give credit where it is due.
Very little of what Lee does is bad in my book.
I can just see a bunch of fortysomething males around a desk:
Ted “so we should cover up some of that skin, we need to speak to the female audience.
Bob “nobody really wears their underwear around, lets give her some stretchy pants like all those young girls in the American Apparel ads.
Ted “good one Bob, but she has got to look tough. What women are tough? Strippers, no, biker chicks. Lets give her a biker jacket”
Bob “hold it Ted, but now she is just not sexy enough to appeal to the men”
Ted “easy, we can just give her boobs a boost, no, even bigger. Great!”
Bob “We should just make her look like Megan Fox. Then th movie casting will be easy”
And of course they just forgot about the shoes all together. Typical. They look like Beatle Boots.
(I don’t read comic books, so its kinda a wonder what I’m doing here. But Wonder Woman is enough of a universal icon to catch my interest.)
I like it. The jacket is a simple yet realistic touch. I know if I were able to fly (can Wonder Woman fly?) I’d definitely need a nice jacket for those colder altitudes. However, the jacket is several sizes too small, and could never reach around her massive rack. The black tights are a little dull, and they look very chilly. I guess they’re not as gaudy as Wonder Woman’s usual starred panties, so its a plus. Can’t Wonder Woman find a nice pair of pants? Also, the costume desperately needs some tall boots. At the very least, Wonder Woman could probably walk down the street someplace without getting laughed at. So in that quality, this is the greatest super hero costume ever.
Also, this is just me here, but I always figured that Wonder Woman should be Black. Again, that’s just me.
