The Big 4 broadcast networks will be tweaking tonight’s primetime lineups to accommodate President Barack Obama’s address on the oil spill at 8PM EDT tonight, so program your DVRs accordingly.
The main attraction of the night, ABC’s coverage of Game 6 of the NBA Finals, won’t be affected. It will still start at 9PM EDT. The Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night special will follow Obama’s address at 8:16PM for a shortened, 18-minute run, followed by a slightly abbreviated NBA Countdown at 8:34PM leading to the game.
On the East Coast, NBC will segue from the President’s speech to Losing It With Jillian, which will be joined in progress with a brief recap. The night’s tentpole, America’s Got Talent, will be staying put at 9PM. Fox and CBS will run their scheduled lineups in their entirety on a delayed basis after the address. Fox will air an original two-hour Hell’s Kitchen, while CBS will carry its regular Tuesday dramas in reruns.

Why is ABC attaching Kimmel to everything big they do? Don’t they know nobody’s buying it? The ratings can be tweaked to seem otherwise, but cmon, he’s so irrelevant. Everyone knows it.
I never watched Kimmel much before, but I’ve found him to be very funny & quick-witted. He’s had huge stars on, the pop-a-shot contests have been hilarious – I’ve been pleasantly surprised…
The game starts at 9pm Eastern. It’s 6pm here in LA.
Does it really mater what that goon says? I remember pre election all his talk on lower gas prices. Ha!
Where I live, gas was approaching $4/gallon during last year’s election and is now at $2.59/gallon.
Just because you’re sore that your guy lost doesn’t mean that the rest of the country isn’t interested in the steps he’s taking to clean up the oil spill.
The national average for regular gas in November 2008 (when Obama was elected) was $2.07 per gallon. Nowhere in the U.S. was it anywhere close to approaching $4.00 per gallon. The current national average is $2.70 per gallon. Regardless of how you feel about Obama or what you think about how policies affect gas prices, the raw fact is that gas at the pump is (on average) $.63 per gallon higher now than when Obama was elected.
How soon they forget.
I was paying $4.58 per gallon a month before the election. Once it was clear Bush and his people were on their way out of office, gas prices started going down. When Bush was elected, I was paying $1.48 a gallon. At the end of his term I was paying $4.58. A month before he left, prices finally went back down.
Under Obama’s office, while gas prices have risen to more than $2, they have yet to approach the ridiculously astronomical prices they were at during Bush’s election.
Regardless of how you feel about Obama or what you think about how policies affect gas prices, the raw fact is that gas at the pump is (on average) $2 lower now than they were during most of the two or three years prior to when Obama was elected.
Hes not talking about the oil spill tonight, numbnuts! Hes got more pressing needs to explain, like all the “crisises” we have regarding money for overpaid with benefits teachers, and the health care, and cap and trade, and, well, you know, ad nauseum!
He talks too much. He needs to stay in Washington and DO his job. Never has a president before liked the cameras so much!
I’m not sure what will be worse – Obama blaming Bush for the oil spill or the ABC talking heads love affair with Kobe!
Oh Wow! You are right again! Two oilmen controlled the White House for eight (8) years. Filled the Departments with other oilmen and flunkies, relaxed or just plain eliminated regulations for maximum profit. Oh, but it’s Obama’s Oil Disaster. Brilliant.
I can’t wait to see what he says. So many will be affected by spill and no matter what he says really, nothing can reverse the damage. My biggest concern is not to blame but to resolve our waters are being contaminated. Let’s just fix the problem. If BP don’t know what to do surely they don’t need to be drilling anymore!
Someone just give Obama his own TV series so he can quit throwing every network’s schedule out of wack (and lose the networks millions in advertising revenue in the process) every time this foolish man child decides it’s time to pontificate. If he spent one tenth of the time he does showboating for the press on fixing this oil spill, it would have been over and down with two months ago. Then again, that’s what America gets for electing a wannabe celebrity rather than a wannabe president.
This clown (with virtually no previous executive experience) was too busy golfing and lecturing Arizona about their illegal immigration law to be bothered with the oil crisis in the gulf. Suddenly, this thing turns into a nightmare and our “chairman” has to do some major PR work to hide his incompetency. This man is a devious, ideologue who will do anything and say anything for political power. He dragged his feet and refused help from other countries (many have offered….now well documented) because he and the democrats received millions from BP in campaign contributions. If this had been Bush, the left wing “main stream media” in this country would have run him out of town.
Water-boarding is not torture……having to listen to this phony is.
It’s incompetence, not incompetency. Please learn to spell English before leaving rancorous posts.
Doesn’t affect me any more. Got rid of the TV and only use the Internet.
Ken B… Are you a comedy writer? Because that post was hilarious. It’s bizarre what goes on in the small minds of you conservatives. I must give you brownie points for one thing though. You stayed on message, mimicking your Fox talking points to a T. Good puppet.
Sweetsis,
No more bizarre then what goes on in the small minds of rogressives like you. However, I must give you brownie points for staying on message, mimicking your MSLSD (aka MSNBC) talking points like a good Obama stooge!
while CBS will carry its regular Tuesday dramas in reruns.
Does anybody really watch re-runs? That’s so my parents’ generation. With the advent of DVR’s and cable and hello, the 21st century, are re-runs even profitable? CBS needs to step up their summer programming.
sweetsis—Why don’t you come up with a solution, and opposite point of view or something constructive instead of making fun of someone that you assume is a conservative. In case you haven’t noticed there are a lot more than just conservatives who are un-happy with Obama. High 5′s for Ken B!! I’d rather watch the NBA finals than listen to Obamanation tonight or any night.
Didn’t Fox and CBS eventually join regular programming in-progress right after the speech (in the Eastern and Central time zones) so late local newscasts on those networks (as well as NBC) began on-time in the East??
Local TV stations get mad when prime-time programming “sldies” due to an NFL ocverrun or a Presidential speech. They want their late local newscasts to start on time, every night!
