A decade after their short runs, Judd Apatow’s cult series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared are getting another shot on IFC. The cable channel has acquired all 18 produced episodes of the NBC dramedy, created by Paul Feig and produced by Apatow, and all 17 segments of the Fox comedy, created and produced by Apatow, from Paramount Pictures, which holds the rights to the two DreamWorks TV series. Freaks and Geeks premieres this Friday, while Undeclared will debut in the fall featuring a previously unaired episode. The two series helped break a slew of young talent, including Jay Baruchel, Jenna Fischer, James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel.

Freaks And Geeks was probably one of the best shows to ever air on television.
I agree Freaks and Geeks was one of the best shows ever. But how is this news? Showing repeats over and over will not bring it back. That’s like CW buying and rearing Moonlight… why?
AND John Francis Daley, Linda Cardellini, Busy Phillips, Martin Starr and more, more more…WHAT GREAT SHOWS, and great casting!
…Not to mention Linda Cardelinni, John Francis Daley, Busy Philipps, Samm Levine and Martin Starr.
Great shows, both!
Great News !! Two critically – acclaimed & extremely well -written ( and brilliantly acted ) tv programs that boosted the careers of James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Samm Levine, Martin Starr, Busy Philipps, Linda Cardellini , Jay Baruchel , Charlie Hunnam, and of course Judd Apatow. I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.
Yay! I just watched the first season again. This makes me happy
Yes, had they continued to air these shows, we probably could have achieved World Peace and cured Cancer.
That sound you hear is white folks dancing in the streets. The only bigger news than this is if they brought back “Arrested Development.” #stuffwhitepeoplelike
This had to come on the day that Party Down, with 2 stars from F+G gets canceled lol. I watched both these shows when they aired, and I wish we could have seen them through instead of just doing spinoffs of crappy shows in the first place.
Makes sense. Nothing screams independent film channel like failed network shows. (Yes great shows I know) but ifc is supposed to highlight independant features.
Yeah….was wondering the same thing…
It’s not Judd Apatow’s show. It’s Paul Feig’s show.
exactly. why do people, including commentators on IFC, refer to the show as the “judd apatow” classic? i’m guessing the apatow name is more “money” than paul feig.
Best news I’ve heard in a long time. Freaks was my favorite show in the whole world. Soooo much young talent involved. It’s a shame it was canceled after just one season, but I can see why that happened, the style of humor was every much ahead of its time. Cant wait to see that unaired Undeclared episode too
One can only hope that a decade later the American public has become smart enough to understand/appreciate these shows.
