There will be no new adventures for Old Christine on ABC or anywhere else. After several attempts to make a deal for the cancelled CBS comedy series starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus at ABC, producer Warner Bros. TV has pulled the plug. The show’s fifth season finale, which aired on CBS last month, was indeed the series finale. Starting in the fall, fans of The New Adventures of Old Christine will be able to catch old episodes on Lifetime and on broadcast stations, which will launch the series in syndication. As for ABC, the network had showed strong interest in picking up Old Christine for the past three years. But when the show finally became available this year, a deal proved impossible to make as ABC was said to be unwilling to pay the high license fee needed to keep the veteran comedy series going. ABC also passed on picking up the cancelled CBS drama Ghost Whisperer, while TNT declined to extend the life of NBC’s Law & Order.

ABC continues to put all kinds of money into rehashed garbage like The Bachelor/Bachelorette and they can’t afford to actually put a show on like Old Christine? I could think of a couple of shows ABC can drop right now so they could afford a show like Old Christine which is actually fun, for a change.
aww, that’s too bad…really.
Well Dirk considering THE BACHELOR gets triple the ratings of Christine and costs them much less, I;m sure you can understand the reason.
Also, ABC didn’t cancel the show, CBS did. The fact that ABC even considered pikcing up a 6 year old show with low ratings that they don’t own is monumental in itself. Do you realize that Modern Family’s rerun numbers last night are about what Chrsitine was getting in originals. Sorry Fans, ABC made the right move. If you’re pissed, it’s not ABC’s fault.
Boooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! This sucks!!! I loved Old Christine!
Sorry it’s ended for good. I didn’t think ABC would bite but I thought maybe a cable venue woould pick it up. To bad the fee got in the way. It was a nice ensemble cast and I enjoyed watching it. Oh well see you in synd. OC.
Just wonderful news that this show is finally done and over with!
Well, I’ve never seen the show, but it looked really stupid. I didn’t think a Seinfeld cast could make it and there is something I don’t like about Julia Louis Dreyfuss. Maybe it’s that I don’t find her attracttive or funny at all. I, like you, glad it’s done.
As much as I love Old Christine, I knew this was a long shot. ABC wanted Old Christine for the past two years because they don’t have a hit sitcom on the schedule and they need OC to build a comedy block but now they have Modern Family and relatively good ratings for The Middle and Cougar Town (both shows outrated Old Christine this season). If only WB lowered the license fee, oh well.
Anyway, I hope Julia will get a pilot next season or hopefully do guest star roles on other shows for the meantime.
It sucks!! My family and I love this show and are very sad to see it go!!
Delightful show, to me it didn’t drop the ball too much and was still very watchable, though hope to see her in a new sitcom soon
Julia will be fine, she has 2 Emmys and a Golden Globe. She is a big name in TV. Shee is already looking at new ideas for another series.
I just hope Hamish Linklater and Wanda Sykes can get a good gig..
I’m a fan from Chile. ABC: That’s a real shame, I love this show!

Gentlemen:
This show is awful.
It was/is a miserable failure.
I couldn’t make myself watch more than fifteen seconds of it at one time, and never did.
This show and numerous, numerous others, should never have been made.
They are, to name but a few of them:
The Simpsons and all spinoffs therefrom;
Family Guy and all spinoffs;
King of the Hill and all spinoffs;
Manly Men or whatever Charlie Sheen’s show is called, and all shows related thereto;
Tyler Perry’s House of Payne;
Every single show made for or sponsored by TV Land Network;
All of those “Police Blotter” shows or Detective/Medical Examiner shows, of which there are about twenty;
Every show with Betty White in it, made after the Mary Tyler Moore show, of which I count about fifteen. This must include any serial which dared even to allow her one cameo in one episode;
Any show in which the word “Momma” was ever either scripted or actually spoken;
Any cooking show which does not include Martha Stewart;
All Star Trek or Star-Trek-Like shows other than the original Star Trek, of which I count about one hundred;
“Married with Children,” and any show like “Married with Children,” of which I count about two hundred;
“Boston Legal,” and any show like “Boston Legal,” of which I count about one hundred;
“American Idol,” and any show of that ilk, of which I count about two hundred, give or take a Paula Abdul Jabbar;
Any and all shows on the FoxNews Channel and related channels;
Any show ever complimented by, affiliated with, or mentioned by, Rupert Murdock and anyone who knows or works for him or any of his companies;
All sports programs other than tennis and golf once a year;
All news and political programs except one show, once a day, narrated by CSPAN’s Brian Lamb;
All music programs of any kind, except PBS’s “Live From Lincoln Center” once a month;
All public access programs everywhere;
All EWTN programs; and
All programs in which poor grammar has ever been used, even if only once.
Oh, I almost forgot.
“The Office,” and any program even remotely like “The Office.”
Have a Dovely.
Sincerely yours,
Caleb Boone,
Hays, Kansas
USA.
P.S.: It certainly does feel good to make that list. I feel sorry for Mrs. Dreyfus, but not so sorry that I would watch her show.
considering the fact that you watch golf and tennis, plus martha stewart your list means nothing
