The project is called Business Trip and it was set up a while ago at Universal Pictures. But now mogul Judd Apatow has come on to produce with Benderspink, and Judd’s actress wife Leslie Mann (who also was in his Funny People made at Universal) will star. They want to start shooting as soon as January 2011.

Judd Apatow is a white Tyler Perry.
That is a horrible analogy. Perry is a film factory. He turns out 3 or more crappy movies a year, trash. Apatow makes 1 movie every three. They aren’t popcorn American mass films but a niche of their own. I don’t mind the length but do agree he needs to respect his audience more if her wants to be soo big.
Leslie Mann is getting hated on here. I don’t get why! I don’t think she or the kids have ever not added to a film. She plays a good bitch, so lets hope she expands.
Apatow directs one movie every three years. He produces a lot more.
She’s a ONE TRICK PONY. And she can only get roles in her hubby’s films.
Apatow’s stuff is funny, but slowly beginning to all look the same, it’s becoming cliche-ish and already “seen it” type stuff. Hence the lack of a big opening for his last film.
LoLoLoLoLoL. First time I’ve heard it put that way and it makes total sense.
I agree.
Nepo…..what’s the word???? Actually she’s not half bad when she doesn’t cry….like in every other movie she has done.
When will he learn??
Whatever she has got on him, he’s doing what he can to make her a star, but the people vote “No.”
as long as judd is working, leslie is working.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this movie will most likely be waaaaay too long and pretty smug.
It would bother me if she was a bad actress, but I’ve liked her in everything thus far…
I will carry her hilarious “frinnch toast” with me forever.
She’s gorgeous but she can’t act. Her contributions helped make the 2nd half of “Funny People” terrible. She’s going to ruin Apatow’s career.
This is no different than what Stiller does for Christine Taylor, so I’m not even going to hate.
Judd, just point the camera at Leslie, and leave for two hours. That’s basically what you’ve been reduced to.
She’s awesome in a limited role. Too much screen time and a certain lack of depth and brittleness come out. She’s a beautiful woman and actually funny, but a leading role is not her forte. The crying scene in Funny People brought the entire film to a screeching halt from which it never recovered.
Bunch of haters. The lady can act. More power to them both.
“Doorman!…Doorman!…Doorman!”
Yeah, these comments are pretty ridiculous. Leslie Mann is funny and lovely and good. Judd Apatow is funny and talented. The end.
Uh-uh, I smell another “Funny People” coming in. Please Apatow, make this next movie short and sweet. No one likes a 2 1/2 hour movie that tries to be the next James L. Brooks.
I won’t mind your wife starring in this, as long as you give her good stuff to work with.
am i the only one who thinks she’s really good? she pretty, funny, and seems like a nice/quirky person off screen. apatow himself however, should stay behind the scenes and stop promoting his movies on talk shows. he’s annoying and since he’s been over-exposing himself his movies have done worse at the b.o.
and please keep this romcom under two hours and twenty minutes
You guys are bumming me out, I like her, always have, always will. I’d like to see more of her!
this is 1000x more sickening than Will Smith buying his son a franchise, because Will Smith’s son is actually remotely likeable
You’re all just jealous because Apatow is talented, rich and goes home to the smokin’ hot Leslie Mann every night. He came up from nothing and I applaud his chutzpah in making films that defy convention.
Apatow did not COME UP from nothing as you say. His mother owned a comedy club on Long Island where all the biggies (Shandling, Seinfeld) performed and when it came time to help lil’ Judd, they were all too willing to provide him his in. Judd has worked in this business since the early 90′s.
He’s obviously very talented and successful, but please don’t make it seem like he came from the Upper Penisula of Michigan, slept in his car for half-a-decade and then somehow made it. The guy has boatloads of help in his development to becoming a comedy mogul.
Pauly Shore is hating the Apatow love.
Hank Pechov, get your facts straight dude, you know NOTHING about where Judd Apatow came from.
He’s had one of the BEST “starting out” writing careers. Aside from what Brick mentioned, he worked on the Larry Sanders Show and many others hits like it to getting his own Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared shows made.
Not many writers can have a GREAT career like this and then end up having first look deals with two major studios. Yes he has talent, BUT he lives the dream because he was given a boost. Most scribes did not/do not get the breaks he was handed.
She’s fine in limited doses, but she destroyed the second half of “Funny People”. You could almost see Eric Bana wince every time she had a line.
Wow, most of these posts are bizarrely vitriolic. Leslie is, in fact, highly talented, and not to mention has the gift of great comic timing. It doesn’t hurt that she’s gorgeous too. That’s a combination that clearly generates a lot of envy. And anyone who has half a clue knows that her husband has worked harder and longer than most people in this town, and he deserves all of his success. Those that claim that others have done it for him are simply uninformed.
Yes! They are my favorite! I’m sure this movie will be fantastic.
Leslie is beautiful, but her presence is not strong ans most importantly, she can’t act… As other people mention, she is ok in limited scene, but not a leading character definitely.
