Remember last week I toldja that Knight And Day was tracking terribly — no better than Killers? Now the about-to-be-released pic’s tracking is worse. Interest went from 29 on Friday down to 26 on Monday.

Not surprising. Except for a couple of exceptions, Cruise has been making the same exact film for decades. People are fed up with watching recycled star vehicles. They want new blood. Now there’s a Les Grossman film in the works, but what could he possibly do for 100 pages? Bottom line: Cruise’s time is winding to an end. The studios are morons for trying to push yet another expensive hot mess.

When did Romantic Comedies change from boy and girl chasing each other to getting chased?
I laughed my ass off during the “with me/without me/with me/without me” clip. That showed nice comic timing and delivery which is not Tom’s forte. If the whole film were that good, they’d have a hit.

Well, I’ve seen a number of the early review and they are approximately 95% positive. I think this movie will surprise.

I’ll admit it – my biggest problem with the film is the title. Sorry, it’s just that simple.

I’d like to see some actual reviews. This tracking nonsense is making me think Nikki has an axe to grind about this film. In a summer so far filled with sequel, sequel, remake and remake (oh sorry, I meant “reboot”), I confess this movie actually LOOKS like it might be fun — Cruise not taking himself seriously, a good mix of action and humor, etc.
Maybe it’s going to suck like everything else this season, but the fact Nikki keeps harping on the “tracking level” for THIS movie makes me think our fearless leader here just wants to see it fail. lol.

how much longer are the studios going to force their formulaic crap scripts back up our arses? Enough!
Who told Tom cruise he was funny? And doing his own stunts on morning talk shows only makes him look lame. Doesn’t he get the marketing game anymore? He used to understand how to keep it cool and not look like he was trying too hard. Now he looks desperate. He should keep his mouth shut and go make the MI4. Learn his lesson from this one and chill out. I’m still a fan of his work, just not the man.

I thought “Knight and Day” was some joke when I first heard of it. It sounds like an 80′s t.v. show that lasted a half a season.
Every single person I know rolled their eyes when they saw the trailer, same as for “Killers.”
I think this COULD have been a great comeback for Cruise if he had a different leading lady in this film. I like Diaz, but she’s just not the box office draw she once (briefly) was. There are many better leading lady choices they could have made in order to make the film more relevant. Because as is, it’s got TWO leading actors who haven’t had hits in ages trying to make a come back in a been-there-done-that story with some confusing combo of action and “humor”. It just doesn’t work. Who would want to see that? I know I sure don’t. I like both of these leads, but not together. Not now anyways. When they starred together in Vanilla Sky, it was at the height of both of their careers. But now they’re both struggling to be relevant and joining together for this silly action comedy action…comedy (?)….just isn’t a winning formula.
When this thing bombs, and it WILL bomb, Fox will be kicking themselves hard. I mean between the production and what will likely be a huge worldwide promotional tour, the price tag on this will probably tap out at around $150 million. But I predict its opening box office to be a hugely disappointing $25 million tops, after which it will be SLAUGHTERED by Twilight and Toy Story 3 holdovers. All in all I think Fox will wind up losing at least $50 million on Knight & Day. Yikes.
The action in Knight and Day is far superior to Killers but the trailer of Killers seemed funnier. I would guess the reason it’s tracking so poorly is that the “crazy” look of his character is too close to how Cruise looked when he was battling Matt Lauer and jumping on Oproh’s couch.

If Tom Cruise is so finished will somebody please explain why Valkyrie made 200 mil worldwide just a couple of years ago? (A Third Reich murder thriller?! Talk about a movie with limited appeal!) Knight and Day has a profoundly wider market potential. They are already talking about a Bollywood version with Indias 2 biggest stars..
And during his “couch-jumping phase,” MI3 made almost 400 worldwide, by the way. Seriously, where do you people get your theories from?

well Karate Kid was tracking at around 30-33 Million opening weekend….and it clearly surpassed that with the 56 million it just did..
They have just began the advertising with the stars giving interviews — and doing a real life stunt on GMA tomorrow (wed). Could your tracking just be overshadowed because of Twilight?
The 1982 title is killing them. Does anyone in 2010 say to themselves “gee, let’s go see a flick called ‘Knight and Day’, I never heard that before”? At least with “Starsky & Hutch” you have some nostalgic value but this new film is seriously out of date.
The new trailer is good and sells it better. Cruise’s MTV Sell through Les Grossman is gonna win him some fans back. And, the movie looks good, despite what the negative nancies here say

The Vanilla Sky is not falling so relax. this will work. maybe not Cruise of 1990 but it will work. Money will be made and Cruise will keep on track. That is all …

I really feel sorry for the sycophantic folks around Tom and Cameron who have had to pretend over this last year or so that this movie was a good idea. Maybe this exact film and premise and cast would have worked in 1995 but not today.
Yes, the title is terrible and a huge part of why this thing isn’t connecting on a marketing level.
But a lot of blame should be heaped on Mangold who used to be an interesting director but is fast becoming Brett Ratner Jr.
It’s going to be tough for Paramount to really pull the trigger on MI4 if this thing dies on the launching pad.

If you’re not feeling schadenfreude about Tom’s imminent disaster, go back and watch his little Scientology interview about how he’s the only one who can help in a disaster. The guy’s a psycho AND a douchebag.

word of mouth on this might save it once it hits theatres. not a smash, but it won’t tank. its WAY better than the killers and the spots definitely hint at plot twists without giving them away.
besides, les grossman is SO popular right now, cruise is on our minds–for better or worse.
conversely, the hype on SPLICE amounted to B.S. once audiences actually sat thru that inane piece of crap and told everyone they knew not to do the same!

Diaz is weak anyway and this is not her genre. Cruise is desperate and creepy. You couldn’t pay me to see this film.
And I agree, those viral videos of ‘behind the scenes’ goofing off between the two actors is so phony it’s embarrassing.
