Smashing story in today’s Daily Mail claiming West End theatre producers are trying to entice the Twilight star to tread the boards. Stewart has informally met one London producer and director, who presented the 20-year-old star with a list of possible plays. I’m hearing that the producer involved is David Pugh, who put Daniel Radcliffe in Equus. I’d love to know which stage vehicles were considered suitable. I know that Stewart is a terrific actress, but watching her being interviewed, she comes across as one long sulky teenage “whatever.”

I agree. Remember her first David Letterman? And we all found out what she’s really like..Yuck!
Yea what shes really like..an actess trying to do her job?..is that what you mean..or one who is constantly ragged on for not conforming to what people think she should be..just because she dosnt have fake boobs and fake teeth and a fake tan and wear pink and carrry a pink purse and have bleached blond hair..or kiss the paps tail ..youve now found out what shes really like..good lord will people ever leave this girl alone..bet your’re a Rpattz fan..jealous much?
I don’t care if she’s sullen or hyper or morose or jubilant in person, in real life, or on a damn talk show. That’s not the issue. What is the issue is whether she has any stage experience. Film acting and acting on stage are tow different “animals”, and that’s what should be discussed…not her talk show appearances Tim Adler…because they have nothing to do with whether someone is a good ACTOR or not.
Seriously…that is an inane comment.
What a ridiculous thing for a grown man to say about a 20 year old girl.
I think we can all agree that Tim Adler’s reporting is “whatever”.
No that is not an inane comment. The Letterman interview- despite being dreadful- is part of her job and showed us that she really is just that melancholy and sour teenager we saw in Twilight. Not acting when you choose that character for each film. And yes, theatre and film are two completely different worlds, and she is one of those actresses who is great for film and will no doubt be eaten up by the theatre. Let’s remember theatre takes real training and it’s not only her- most her hollywood peers would sink too. It’s mostly just sad that producers on the west end have become greedy enough that they are willing to force it.
That she doesn’t like creepy old men with power and fidelity issues?
Maybe she’s crazy like a fox.
She might know that out of character she comes across as sullen and annoying. So what’s the best way to re-humanize your image and get some sympathy, go do a play in a city with some of the world’s nastiest critics who might resent a “teen queen” from Hollywood trodding their sacred boards, and will probably be vicious at her for just showing up.
Or maybe not.
Maybe you’re lazy like an ox.
You might know that, when off of your own website, you come across as not-in-the-know and annoying. So what’s the best way to re-signify your name and get some respect, go spend some actual time in the business with some of the world’s nastiest professionals who might resent a “wannabe” from the UK trying to look informed, and will probably be vicious at you for just showing up.
Positively so.
Considering the source it the Daily Mail, I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out not to be true.
That should be is.
If she wants to do stage, more power to her. But, I hope she’ll spend time with a coach. She has a lot of work to do in order to project into a live house. Live theatre is a totally different animal than film – just ask Daryl Hannah, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Julia Roberts.
What, must every teen be like Miley, or Lindsay?
Sheesh! Let her be herself and stop putting your expectations of what you think this talented actress must act when in public
Wait, you just called Kristen Stewart a terrific actress? You’ve got to be kidding me. She’s terrible. Like you said, she’s sulky. That’s all she can do. Until she proves otherwise please don’t start singing her praises. Without the Twilight series she’d be nothing.
I had only seen her in “Into the Wild” before Twilight. Her small part showed great promise. But Twilight made me rethink that. But I just caught The Runaways this spring and she was amazing in it. My friend saw “Welcome To the Riley’s” at Sundance and it made her a reluctant fan. I think it’s too easy to write her off, she’s young still and is showing range outside of that god awful franchise of hers.
I think this would be good for her, she’s very young and this would be a different experience. She deserves it after the way Twilight has screwed her over. She blew me away as Joan Jett in The Runaways so she can definitely move beyond “Bella.”
Did you say Twilight screwed her over?? How so?? Isn’t Twilight responsible for making her a mega super star?? She’d be absolutely nothing more than a cover girl without Twilight…”sulky” is all she knows how to do.
She has social anxiety disorder – she has a hard time with public appearances. Which may make for an interesting complication with doing a play. She is talented though – I saw Welcome To the Rileys by Ridley Scott’s son and Kristen was a force of nature in that, scorched earth, take no prisoners performance. Theater is so different though….
Kristen is a one note actor: sullen. BORING.
LOL @ “terrific actress”.
You haven’t seen any recent interviews then. She’s rather amusing. Watch her on Leno.
Just the fact you watch Leno renders your judgment awful.
Kristen Stewart is great..and a very talented actress..some people just dont know how to take her..but you cant discredit her acting skills just because you dont understand her..she a very wanted actress it would seem..should tell you something..and by the way..she not a teenager..she’ll be 21 on her next birthday…get your facts straight..
she is just shy and apprehensive. So what if she doesn’t like to talk about herself? It has nothing to do with her acting.
But your wrong. It does.
Acting doesn’t stop when you finished filming. If your on a talk show, you’re still acting to promote your film, book etc. She would be torn to shreds here in England. This is a land of magic not sparkles.
There’s something genuine about Stewart. It would be wise to do a play in the West End. It could help distance her from the whole ‘Twilight’ bullshit.

I think she comes off as someone who finds the commercialization of the artist invasive and unpleasant. Of course she stands out, there are so few left, too many feed on it like heroin and then crash and burn when their fix runs out.
My question, why are you, the viewer watching ET, (what’s left of) Oprah and reading Us Weekly? They are on the whole more annoying and vile than Kristen Stewart could possibly ever be. Save your bile for where it belongs.
As opposed to feeding on crack, like our favourite actress does.
“Stewart is a terrific actress?” Really?
terrific actress?
She would be smashing. There are people that are nervous and quiet, but they pop on a stage. I’ve seen it several times. Kristen is a BAFTA winner and is getting rave reviews for two of her independent films. She could do this and add a splash to the stage. With ticket prices going up, they need people that will draw a crowd. I look forward to hearing more about this.
shes definitely a terrific actress. and i dont agree with ppl who say that twilight is all shes known for. apart from twilight shes done some wonderful films, like speak, the messengers, runaways, into the wild and im eagerly awaiting welcome to the rileys. stewart is a very hardworking and talented actress,i guess she should go for this play, it would prove good for her.
Sorry Glinda…if it weren’t for Twilight no one would know her name. The depth of her talent remains to be seen…I believe she is ONE note…hopefully she’ll prove otherwise sometime soon.
I think this will be good for Kristen, I would love to see her go ahead with it and prove a lot of people wrong. She may be shy, at least she is being herself. I think there would be a lot of sell outs and long queues if she decided to take on the West End. Looking forward to it
I could see her doing live theater. I”m not exactly a fan, but I’ve caught a couple interviews of her. And my impression is she is serious and driven, and a perfectionist. Live theater will discipline her in ways her cinematic career hasn’t, and will teach her how to be more spontaneous and engaging as an actor. She’s shown flashes of brilliance throughout the years, and theater will help her figure out to stretch out those moments into actual performances. Good for her for challenging herself.
Kristen Stewart is a fantastic actress and Twilight/New Moon is an awesome movie that will stand the test of time. The musical score for that film–the pacing, the melodic timing of movement–is incredible, there are segments that are purely operatic with the dialogue simply recitative.
Kristen is a Bellini Beauty whom da Vinci could have well-captured in painting. The New Moon art directors utilized that to the max. When Edward tells Bella they must part, the camera angle is iconic and gripping: The Ecstacy of St. Theresa, anyone?
I wish Kristen and Rob would film Wuthering Heights and, yes, Romeo and Juliet, among others. I want Pattinson to use that lovely English accent! In fact, I hope they sneak it into the next Twilight film/s.
They are a fabulous pairing that strengthen and enhance each other. We’re lucky to have them!
Yeah, maybe they will have Robert Pattinson start using an English accent in Twilight, you know, just for kicks…
“Mizzizzippi” just lost a lost of respect from me.
What? Actress? WHAT?
I have yet to see a performance from her where I didn’t say, ‘Hm, this would have been better with __________’.
Stewart is, quite simply, a wonderful actress. In recent film after film, she shows a sure hand and an intrinsic power. I last saw her in “Welcome to the Rileys,” where she played a runaway working as a hooker in New Orleans. In both films she had many scenes with experienced older actors (Hurt, James Gandolfini). In both she was rock solid. Playing insecure and neurotic, yes, but rock solid. Roger Ebert.
“I think she’s a phenomenal talent. Sweet and grounded despite having been in the business long.
She’s a great actor and fun to work with.” -Sarah Clarke
She has played the same character in every movie I have seen with her in it. Crazy movement of eyebrows, biting the lower lip and pushing the hair behind her ear… along with the angst-y teenage thing (I thought she was 20?) She doesn’t HAVE to act.. that is WHO she IS.
