SURPRISE! CNN Talking To Joy Behar About Replacing Larry King
When Larry King steps down from his CNN gig later this year, he’ll need something to fill his downtime. Bagels will play a role. Just before he announced his exit, King closed a deal to become a financial partner in The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company, a Florida-based enterprise that claims to have developed a water treatment technology that replicates the H2O from the New York borough that is the key to churning out bagels that taste like they were made in Brooklyn. (I’m not kidding).
King will lend his name and his stature to an expansion effort that will bring an eatery to Beverly Hills, and franchises could spring up around the country. It all might lead to a public offering. While there are plenty of transplanted New Yorkers who might spark to a bagel that tastes like home, there’s no telling how a bagel joint will catch on in carbohydrate-averse Beverly Hills. King’s biggest problem, though, will be explaining himself to the breakfast crew at Nate N’ Al, the venerable Beverly Hills deli where King has been a morning fixture for years.

God forbid he spend his downtime trying to either fix his latest in a long line of marriages (his wife did try to off herself recently) or raise his young children. What is it with these old geezers who are so afraid of death they need to fill their days working until they moment they croak?
Hope Larry has seen this…He better rethink his retirement.

Mike, thanks for the update. I can just see Larry behind the counter asking all the important questions of what you want on your bagel. No doubt, he will still be seen at his regular table.
Bob Costas should get a call from CNN asap. He would be great to take over (if they keep this show)
East coast people know that the water makes the difference when it comes to dough, hence why places like D’Amore’s ships their water in from the east coast to make their pizza dough.
It does seem somewhat silly to try to compete with Nate n Al’s….unless the food is top notch, nobody will ever compete.
D’Amore’s now gets it water from Italy.
Had a conversion w/Joe D’Amore about this at his place in Malibu during the NBA Championship.
Life is stranger than fiction sometimes. it’s a like an episode from Seinfeld. “the executive” raincoat.
I guess we know where Nate N’ Al’s will be getting their bagels.
Don’t forget the Gifelte Fish Dzwahling.
You can’t make a “New York Bagel” in LA. What’s next? Broadway theater in LA? This is ridunkulous.
Carb averse Beverly hills?
Ever seen the lines outside of sprinkles?
Let me just say this whole water being shipped from NYC is bunch of bull. When I first heard about D’Amore’s pizza and how great it was I went and paid about 20 dollas for a pizza…and guess what..super AVERAGE…Greccos New York Pizzeria is 100 times better…Sad to see you go Larry..Thanks
The secret is they use water from the toilet.
My wife grew up in NY and I lived in NYC for ten years. We now live in south Florida 10 miles from the shop. The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company is fabulous, the bagels come out as real NY bagels. My family eats there every week and I’ve met people who drive from an hour away to buy the bagels – this is the real deal.
They don’t ship the water. they have some high tech operation that makes the water. Same comp as Brooklyn’s minus the impurities. The bagel is the real thing. Tried the one in Delray Fl. We have terrible water (chlorine) and hence terrible baked goods. Wait till you taste these.
Does anyone remember the episode of Entourage when drama is explainging how the water effects the bagels in ny and la?
I pre-date King as a Brooklyn native. Have patronized the Delray establishment and must report that their bagels are basically the same as the “others” -faux Brooklyn.
