Its ratings may have fallen in the U.S. over the past year, but CBS’ veteran CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is back on top as the world’s most watched drama series. The show just received the International TV Audience Award at the 50th Monte Carlo TV Festival, which acknowledges programs that delivered the highest ratings worldwide in 2009 in several categories. CSI drew more than 73.8 million viewers, beating out last year’s winner House. The CSI franchise has held the title of the most-watched drama in the world for most of the award’s five-year history. The flagship series previously won in 2007 and 2008, and its spinoff CSI: Miami in 2006.

How could a horrible show like this be #1? Someone needs to explain it to me… seriously? Closeup of my face as a tear drops in slow motion hitting the ground. Tear drop indicates I was standing Northeast on Hollywood Blvd. Someone actually gave Seacrest star… wtf?

$100s? Are you kidding? He is so wealthy, he actually got the Treasury to start printing $1000s again so he can wipe his ass with those.
It’s #1 because 1) it’s a procedural & 2) the storylines are straight forward. It’s that simple. No need to shed a tear.
Hell just be thankful it isn’t as bad as Baywatch (as it at one time held that title).
Perhaps CSI is no. 1 because the story lines are good, the acting is good and there’s no left-wing political agenda attached to each and every episode. Audiences want to be entertained, not lectured to by crackpot Hollywood elites.
Bay watch was NEVER number one… It was a ‘cute’ marketing claim, The top two shows (independent) in syndication were Star Trek Next Generation and I think Babylon 5. Bay Watch was number 3 and the top watched show “on Earth”. Get the joke? Space – Earth… But simple minded journalists never got the joke, never checked the facts and the joke became the “truth”.
I love the show. I also love Criminal Minds, NCIS, Justified, 24, House and Drop Dead Diva.
I’ll take NCIS (new or rerun) over any of the CSIs, any day.
