Fox has ordered two additional scripts for comedy Breaking In a month after the network passed on the comedy pilot starring Christian Slater. The pilot, set at a digital-security firm, was written by Adam F. Goldberg and directed by Seth Gordon. It had buzz, tested well and was in the running for a series pickup before ultimately missing the cut. Now, with the additional script order, producing studio Sony Pictures TV is also expected to extend the options on the cast that also includes Reaper star Bret Harrison. This would prevent Harrison from being considered for the role on new NBC comedy series Perfect Couples, which is recasting a male lead.

Fox must be scared on that horrible looking Will Arnett show.
How does two additional scripts convince Fox to make it into a series if the pilot doesn’t? If it tested well and they liked it, what’s the point?
They might pick THIS up but not Most Likely to Succeed? Have they not watched the pilots?
The title of this article should have been: “Fox Gives Slater and Harrison Roman Helmets for Sitcom Not Set in Rome”*
Does anyone really think a single camera caper show is going to make it to air for more than 6 midseason episodes? It seems to me this was done for the sole purpose of preventing the actors from becoming stars on other networks. I have it on good authority that not only was Bret Harrison a lock for Perfect Couples if Fox let him go, but he was also sought after for S#!T My Dad Says, both of which are shows with a lot of buzz that presumably will have extreme network support. If either of those series get a full season (and my money’s on both), then Fox just cost Mr. Harrison a cool million+ dollars so that they could read two scripts. And if Mr. Harrison is losing that much, I can only guess how much this will cost Mr. Slater. I just can’t see a defensible business decision here. This better be one damn good remake of Knights of Prosperity.
*For those who don’t get the Roman helmet reference, please consult an urban dictionary.
They need a replacement for The Good Guys.
Anyone seen it?
I have. Got ahold of it because it was Fox’s highest testing pilot. Slater was great, Brett was cute, it had some great jokes. Series could be solid… better than Good Guys for sure.
would love to see the pilot. Where can I find it? Heard it was great and can’t wait to see it.
Christian Slater has always been liked by critics, but hated by audiences.
Will there be a “new lease on life” for the sci-fi pilot by Larry Charles? What’s the latest news?
Adam Goldberg is so talented and funny, this show is sure to be a hit. Fox has clearly realized their mistake in not picking it up in the first place.
Bret Harrison is a smart guy….he’ll never agree to this bad deal no matter what his reps might say…
I can’t wait to see this…Harrison and Slater can pull off a great comedy and I think this is ripe for the picking. Get this on!!
Where can I see the pilot? Would love to as I love Christian and Brett.
