Sanaa Lathan rounds out the cast of HBO’s comedy pilot Tilda, from Bill Condon. The project stars Diane Keaton as Tilda, a powerful female online Hollywood journalist with a no-holds-barred style. Lathan will play Sasha Litt, a mysterious new head of operations that RMG head Andrew Brown (Jason Patric) brings in to work at the studio.
The cast of the pilot, which Condon wrote with Cynthia Mort, also co-stars Ellen Page, Wes Bentley, David Harbour and Leland Orser. Filming will begin shortly in Los Angeles. Lathan, who just came off the West End revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof where she played Maggie, voices a character on The Cleveland Show. She is repped by WME and manger John Carrabino.

Can’t wait to find out who’s the gaffer and the best boy on this. Interesting tactic here. Report the hell out of this so no one can say you ignored it. Clever!
Funny as hell. just what I was thinking or they like that she made the big time.
ty,
i’m curious about your statement here…please expond on it!
You are an AMAZING actress. Loved every project you’ve done. Keep em coming.
Good for you, Sanaa!!! Can some more Black actresses please get some Love – and quality work – in this town?
she’s BEAUTIFUL!
She is stunning and amazing all the things that a woman should be breath taking isn’t she.
GOD she is stunning! Beautiful
Good to see her working. She’s been sort of a disappointment since her awesome turn in “Love & Basketball.” I heard she was pretty good on “Nip/Tuck,” but everything else…? Time to redeem yourself, Miss Lathan!
I have loved everything that she has done since Love and Basketball, especially, “Brown Sugar”… My least favorite (because of the character she played) was Tyler Perry’s, “The Family that Preys.” Wretched she was…lol, and also, the one where she dated the white guy instead of the successful brother…I’m just saying…
Hey! I loved the movie with Simon Baker. They were hot together.
I wanted to love “Brown Sugar,” but it just didn’t work for me. Mos Def, Queen Latifah, and Taye Diggs “My Divorce” dinner scene were definitely bright spots. Sanaa was outacted across the board, especially by Nicole Ari Parker, for whom I don’t really care.
Didn’t like “Something New” or “Something New.” Enjoyed “The Best Man” and “The Wood,” but those weren’t really “her” projects.
On top of that, Sanaa was so very, very mediocre in “A Raisin in the Sun” on Broadway, which is probably the last thing I’ve seen her in.
Anyway, I’m rooting for her. I hope she turns it around.
Meant to say “Disappearing Acts” instead of “Something New” for a second time.
Rip her apart while kissing her the cheek, huh? Sanaa is excellent in all of her projects, Brown Sugar being my most favorite. I can’t wait for this project to start and wish her much success.
What are you talking about she did 6 months as the lead in the West End Play- Cat on A Hot Tin Roof – she was amazing. I would have thought she would have taken a longer break before her next project.
Yummy Yummy!
She has a great agent
She’s a good actress.
I am so glad to see Sanaa doing something new. I absolutely love and adore her and hope to one day work with her….
Can’t wait for this show to begin, with Sanaa teaming up with Diane Keaton, this should be a hoot!!!! Don’t know who c4x has been watching, but the Sanaa Lathan I’ve been watching, has done a number of great projects since Love & Basketball!!! Keep it moving Sanaa, you are the bomb girl!!!
Sanaa, you have my “SUPPORT 100%” on all of your movies, i really loved you in Love & Basketball, great movie from the beginning to the end. keep up the good work, i hope to meet you someday !!
Oh! get it, you’re post made me laugh so hard. Thank you. Exactly, DHD. Please post who’s doing the catering and will it be shot on Panavision, arri or red or what?? Will the rugs be provided by Carpet Warehouse or will they be going upscale with Tufinkian?? I hear Jason Patrick has 2xist underwear written into his contract. can you confirm that? Give us every last detail please.
Everybody should not be able to comment. I know there’s “freedom of speech”, but there’s also; “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything”…Congrats lady! Beautiful pic btw!!!
I concur
Gorgeous and talented. Can’t wait to see what Bill Condon has in mind for her and Diane Keaton. She is gonna KICK ASS on this show!
diane keaton, ellen page, and sanaa lathan?!? movie studios should take note. HBO put together a better cast of women than anything playing at the cinema.
I’m excited! It seems like it will be a great cast. HBO keeps on coming with the good shows. I love Sanaa a bunch!
All you readers please check out my audition video to have my OWN show and vote vote
http://bit.ly/tamika Thank you
i can’t wait to watch the show
Sanaa has yet to disappoint in my opinion. Even in the shitty Alien vs Predator she played a good “Ripley” like character. In The Family That Preys she proved she can be a very effective bitch.
And I dunno about the poster above who said she has been bad since Love and Basketball. Both Something New and Brown Sugar were great movies that were better than Love and Basketball.
Sanaa Lathan can do very little wrong. Every role has been a great choice. From a vampire to a delusional cheating woman, she has continued to surprise me from role to role. I didn’t think she could pull off “The Cleveland Show” role, her being Ivey League and all but wow! she has that “straight hood”/comedienne thing down pat! and her accent in Wonderful World was very good. The world is full of critics Miss Lathan but as I’m sure your father has said many times, you…are very special.
Sanaa is very talented. Because she is African-American, closed-minded Hollywood power brokers have not given her many opportunities ( a great example is Angela Bassett). I wish her more continued success. Props2HBO , I agree putting three talented & well -regarded women on one series is a great move , and having the Big Movie Studios follow this example- especially after the big box office successess of SATC films, Valentine’s Day, Devil Wears Prada,
Hope that you will continue to allow the light from heaven to continue to illuminate through you. Even when you don’t feel like it I pray that you will continue to be a lampstand for heavens light. May your mind always be surrounded by His grace and peace always assisting you in making the right decision.
Kudos to HBO for this great cast of women. Then on the other (much lower) end of the scale there is Bay’s hiring a model for Transformers. Boys and their toys, in more ways than one.
Sanaa Lathan is just sexy. Forgive me Beyonce for cheating since Im already TAKEN by you. (The real Beyonce)
It’s great to see Sanaa Lathan in another project…Im a fan and thinks she’s a great actress. I look forward to seeing her yet in a different light….good for you Sanaa!…good luck in your new adventure!!
Happy that Sanaa will be appearineg in an HBO film. I love her work. In the Family That Preys she was so effective in her role that I wanted to shake her up myself. She adapts well.
Ms. Lathan, keep up the good work. You are an inspriration.
Sanaa, I’ve liked everything you’ve been in! Keep up the great work in this project. My personal favorites are: Blade, Love and Basketball, The Best Man and Alien vs. Predator!
I have followed Sanaa since “Love&Basketball” and she “is” truly a great actress. She may not be up there with those who have been in the game longer, but you can best believe she’s on her way. Keep up the good work, Sanaa, and I hope many more opportunities/ blessings come your way. For all you “haters”, do what you do because you’re just giving Sanaa more motivation to push further in her career. I’m with you all the way, Ms. Lathan!!!
