I hear at least a half dozen actors have read or have been informally approached for the two detective roles, including Skeet Ulrich, James Van Der Beek, Michael Rapaport, Michael Ealy, Dylan Walsh and Dean Cain. Clearly, NBC and Dick Wolf are casting a wide net for the leads of the new Law & Order series, Law & Order: Los Angeles. The producers have been looking for a big-name actor to play the prosecutor, ADA Peter Morales. And I hear there may be interest in Lucy Liu for another role, possibly the captain. While casting on the project is still in preliminary stages, it is expected to kick into high gear soon as filming is slated to begin July 22.
According to a breakdown for the fall NBC series released 2 weeks ago, LOLA (as the series is known) follows closely the template of the other Law & Order series with two detectives, with fortysomething Rex Winters and thirtysomething TJ Jaruszalski at the center of the storyline, joined by a captain, a prosecutor, and his assistant.

Oh boy, more cookie-cutter TV. Pass.
thanks for letting us know……
please tell me that the list of actors that are reading for LOLA is a joke. it has to be. it just can’t be real.
I’ll take any of those actors. I love that Law And Order gives great roles to actors who otherwise might not be viewed as being able to handle the material by typical executive standards.
Anthony Anderson was incredible on LAO. I think Dean Cain or Rappaport would be awesome.
Rapaport? Oh my, this guy’s acting is just awful. The most horrible thing I’ve ssen from him was his fake laugh in “The War At Home”. Brrr…
lets cancel Law & Order and put it in LA, that should make it work!
NBC is retarded
I think Skeet Ulrich would be GREAT in one of these parts. He did a GREAT job playing the Compass Killer on CSI-NY. He is GREAT in anything he plays
this is just mean. if you hadn’t capitalized GREAT, you might have had me. i am willing to wager that no sane person anywhere on earth is of the opinion that Skeet Ulrich is a good actor.
Have you watched any of Skeet Ulrich’s movies? Like “Magic of Ordinary Days” or his role in Spielbergs “Into the West”. Or his series “Jericho?” Or are you just jealous of him?
I agree with you Shirley(not about Skeet. He’s good, not great in my opinion). Randall is just jealous. One of those wannabes who’s jealous of people doing what he can’t do.
Skeet Ulrich is way better than good and I am not sane. I am CRAZY over him.
Skeet is an excellent actor, who is very underated.
Seems silly for NBC to cancel one “L&O” to create another.
it’s a way to “reset” the salaries because it’s a new show.
Lucy Liu eh? That would be interesting, maybe bring in the younger audience?
wrong
Lucy Lui’s a boring actress and a show killer. LOLA can do *much* better than Lucy Lui!
I think Dylan Walsh & Dean Cain could work out very well. Both very good actors. But how about someone like CCH Pounder for the captain – a more mature, solid actress for this pivotal role. And the ADA, how about the always solid Tony Plana?
Agreed about CCH Pounder. She’s a terrific, seasoned actress and was one of my favorite characters on The Shield. However, i think she’s doing some silly Tyler Perry sitcom right now. At least she’s working.
Oh, yes! Please, Skeet Ulrich. I will die to watch it if they choose him!
Dear God, please let Dean Cain get this job, or any job and break the Superman curse.
Oh, how I wish he had been cast on this show! He needs to stop making all those B-Movies; it’s a complete waste of his talent.
By the way, Nellie, thanks yet again for a great story that really made my day! Any other Skeet news?
James Van Der Beek is a brilliant and underrated actor. He would rock this show and role!! He was amazing in “The Rules Of Attraction”!! One of my favorite movies ever!! I will watch this if he is on it.
Please take a risk on at least one unknown… perhaps someone from the LA theatre world.
Michael Ealy, pleaseeeee.
nope
Ssssssnnnnoooorrrrr…
OK, so based on the synopsis the fourtysomething role is between Dylan Walsh and Dean Cain? Dean Cain doesn’t make sense for the younger guy and he is the second oldest on that list so I guess Walsh is the lock.
Despite Van Der Beek being the youngest on this list, I doubt he gets cast. My money would be on Ulrich or Ealy.
Put Ulrich and Ealy together, Liu their captain… done.
Sucks too much. Let me sum up: a joke, silly, Ssssssnnnnoooorrrrr…
BTW: I might have given it a look if the original L&O hadn’t been canceled. I’m continuing to carry a grudge. And NBC is retarded.
I hope Skeet Ulrich gets a part. I miss seeing him on TV. Hopefully NBC will notice what a talented actor he is, CBS obviously doesn’t.
JAMES VAN DER BEEK!!!! He killed it on Mercy. LOVE HIM!
VAN DER BEEK AND EALY- they’d make a great duo.
Van Der Beek was fantastic in FORMOSA BETRAYED where he played an FBI Detective.
