This woman is still HOT. Damn!
Did you see the new Vanity Fair issue that she covers? There’s a series of pictures of her wearing black leather hot pants and black boots that seriously made me considering playing for the home team. Brad Pitt is one very lucky son of a bitch.
all those projects are amazing but i am rooting for serena!
Beautiful, smart and talented. Pitt is lucky basterd.
I would like to see her do Serena and Maleficent.
Wow, Angelina Jolie is NOT just an ordinary A-lister. She’s the whole package that’s why projects do come to her. More often than not, she’s always the first one to be considered with regards to interesting movie roles or characters, even before a script was made. Good for her that she really sees to it that before she accepts any movie projects, she must be really be convinced that a certain script is effective, not just for monetary consideration.
I really hope they can come up with a very good script that can convince AJ to do Maleficent & Cleopatra. I can really imagine her with those characters.
Her having studied a short course in screenwriting & directing really comes in handy in her choice of movies to make. She’s very particular with the script more than anything else. That’s very wise of her.
She’s awesome but no one wants to see a Cleopatra movie.
not convinced she’s been in one good film…
gone in 60 seconds.
changeling.
pushing tin.
the bone collector.
taking lives.
tomb raider.
beowulf
kung fu panda.
original sin.
mr and mrs shit.
sky captain and the world of tomorrow.
the good shepherd.
OUCH.
Fortunately, she *is* the movie. Thus she can star in toe crud and it still sells. Also, you didn’t mention two early standouts, “Gia” and “Girl Interrupted.” A key example of her *being* the film is her turn in the laughable “Changeling.” Her performance was wildly spotty, but the moment when she confronts the killer … is just cinematic magic, goose-bump material.
The challenge for her is to work with directors who know the difference between the extraordinary magic that keeps people returning to the theaters year after year … and the ordinary dribble. Because I imagine, if you don’t push her for the magic … then you end up with two minutes of it vs. a varied, nuanced performance that builds to a passionate crescendo like an opera. But it takes a film virtuoso to achieve that. And Kubrick was the last of a dying breed, imo. Speaking of, I would have loved to see those two work together. Or perhaps, Jolie would have lost herself beneath the impact of his directing the way Kidman did.
What are you talking about? A lot of those films that you listed are good. Well, except BEOWULF and 60 Seconds…
Changeling is a good film. Girl Interrupted you omitted. That’s a solid movie. A Mighty Heart is a very good film. Pushing Tin isn’t that bad. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a lot of fun. Her segment in Playing by Heart is the best part of that movie. It’s hard to say Kung Fu Panda is awful. She’s quite amazing in GIA. George Wallace is a fine movie.
That said… other terrible movies you forget to mention include:
Shark Tale.
Wanted.
Hackers.
Foxfire.
Alexander.
Life or Something Like It.
Beyond Borders.
Tomb Raider Part Deux.
Funny you mentioned these. As far as I was concerned, the air went out of Alexander when her role was finished. Hackers? Is dated but was fine for its day. Shark tale? As far as I know it was well received and remains a favourite of older children. I am not defending it but I liked Life or Something Like It. And Wanted I would pay for again just for the opening scene of Angie, smokey eyes, unearthly good looks, and a gun battle in the grocery store. I giggled. All I can say about Beyond Borders is that it was obviously seminal for this incarnation of her latest self. But then again I am fan.
Stop! I love Hackers. It’s one of my comfort movies.
Good lord. There were some very good movies listed there that got trashed. What’s up?
Wow. It must have been a VERY short course in screenwriting — see the list as provided by Waiting On The Number. Spot on.
I’m surprised IMDB hasn’t listed the project in development that will most likely eventuate: 10 more children.

love her – i would see anything she is in… she’s an amazing actress – truly remarkable in everything she does.
i can actuly picture her as Maleficent for her and Tim burton doing a film together would be amazing. plus can also see her as Kay Scapeta though last i heard Patricia was working on a script a long time ago for in potters field. though no doubt Angela will not have to wait for all the studies will be after her to star in the films she mentioned hope she does Maleficent first as one of her next projects.
I’m wracking my brain and I can’t think of a single major female movie star who can do Drama, comedy and the Jumping/running/fighting roles that Angelina can do so well. She can do it all.
And we were born only 7 days apart. I’m 1 week older.
Just sayin’.
except she can’t do comedy at all, and her dramatic chops leave much to be desired
but playing men with breasts? she seems to have that covered
WHY is she all over my TV all of a sudden when she hasn’t said spit in the last 5 years? Is there something wrong with SALT? Or is hollywood worried about the whole “death of stars” thing? And yeah, her batting average is pretty terrible. I was one of those people who never liked her early career. George Wallace and Gia don’t count as films, weren’t they made for TV? I thought she was ugly back in those days so I didn’t get her. Now, she is striking looking, but she is still a home wrecker. But she’s all hollywood has got at this point. Her SALT is coming out at a time when everyone is talking about the “pretty” (I don’t think Russian women are that pretty, unlike Trump) Russian agent so that should help the film. If it’s a female Bourne I’ll go see it. I did like her (and her co-stars-her breasts) in Tomb Raider. She portrayed a strong, intelligent woman who loved men and could beat them up. Best role for a woman since the Faye Dunaway role in Network.
Waw, I saw some people still commenting on the home-wrecking thinge.
6 years and 6 kids later?
Chanting with me, Peggy, “I’m not Jennifer Aniston!!!” “My husband is not Brad F*ucking Pitt!” “Angelina Jolie is not whom he dumped me for!”
One more time, shall we?
I’d be nice to see her leave a few more cinematic marks before she calls it quits, sounds like she’s on the right track. She is hard to package and has made some safe choices career wise. Not much worth re-watching on that filmography of hers.
Having interviewed her at length twice (and comparing her to just about every other actress/actor working in Hollywood, who’ve I also interviewed at some point or another) Angelina stands apart not just because she’s intelligent, talented and well-spoken. She’s also absolutely genuine, a rarity in her business, incredibly cool and yes, normal.
She might be a “star” but she can’t carry a movie.
Her movies do well when it’s an ensemble piece (WANTED) or when she was with a bigger star than herself (Brad Pitt) but we don’t want to see a movie when it’s just her.
MIGHTY HEART, anyone?
CHANGELING?
If THE TOURIST does well, you can thank Johnny Depp for that.
Let’s see how SALT does, but I think I can guess.
@Peggy
Make up your mind. You start off your post hating her guts then admit you love her as an action hero. As to, “WHY is she all over my TV all of a sudden…”, it’s called promoting a film prior to it’s release. She is one of the most talented actresses working in film today, and don’t hate her because she also happens to be stunning in the looks department. She didn’t wreck a home, it wasn’t working before she came along. And, home wreckers tend to NOT stick around years later and adopt and have several more kids. They wreck and they leave. They found the perfect partner in each other. And, no I am not part of her staff, nor do I know her, nor am I an Angelina Uber Fan. I just hate when people make nonsensical rants with contradictions. She’s just living her life and working her career. Stop hating.
She’s great – I want to work for her one day.
