Newcomer Caleb Landry Jones has landed the role of Banshee in X-Men: First Class. He has been seen in No Country For Old Men (the kid who sold his shirt that Javier Bardem’s assassin character used to splint his fractured arm), as well as Friday Night Lights and the upcoming The Social Network. He’ll next be seen in Lionsgate’s The Last Exorcism. Banshee, aka Sean Cassidy, can issue a sonic scream that allows him to fly, and is paralyzing to enemies. Paradigm and Untitled made his deal.

Wow, they finally hired an actor born in America, this thing was turning into a Harry Potter film. Ironically, the character was from Ireland.
Banshee’s Scottish, actually, so it seems kind of silly to cast him with an American or maybe even re-write the character to be American. Then again, they didn’t bother making Storm African or Colossus Russian.
Duh! Storm and Colossus…were already African-American and Russian in the comic…They were not created as such for the film audience…what’s your point, yet I feel Banshee should be true an portrayed by a Irish actor.
Storm was *African*, not African-*American*. Halle Berry was horrible casting for her.

He’s also considerably older than the other X-men, closer to Xavier’s age, with a grown daughter when the others were in their 20s.
I agree, Banshee is much older than his fellow teammates. He is also Irish, or at least that what they keep calling him in the comics. The problem with these movies is that they tend to screw up key elements of the characters.

The dumb-ass studio “creative” execs at Fox better keep their ignorant hands and notes away from Matthew Vaughn, Singer, and the script, or they will have another piece of unwatchable shit like “Wolverine” – which is horrid. Fox and its “creative” ass clowns has ruined more comic-book movies than any other studio. – Daredevil, Electra, Wolverine…. Leave the creative talent- director, writers and producers alone so we canh have another great X-Men Movie!
finally an american born cast in an american superhero…….i agree with perplexed….just because the director is british doesn’t mean you have to hire people from your country ……
You’re not kidding…same goes for a lot of these Marvel properties– There seems to be only a movie and a half worth of interesting stuff in any of them. Iron Man certainly doesn’t feel MORE cool or interesting for having a second movie. And this Vaughn X-movie’s cast, without ANY actors of any real note sounds pretty risky overall — it’s not like they have the best x-stories or characters to pick from anymore, like they did in 2000 with the first film.
This and Green Lantern are the kind of Superhero films that could kill the entire trend — I’m a comic book fan and I’d be fine with that! Really
miss creative original cinema and I’ll take Inception over Dark Knight any day!

Caleb Jones was in No Country For Old Men, but the kid who sold his shirt was Josh Blaylock. Caleb was the other kid in that scene.

It is ridiculous how many foreign actors that Hollywood hires for these movies, not to mention the fact that they film everything in Vancouver. It is stupid business practice considering the state of the economy.

I acted a lot with him in highschool. He’s a cool guy and believe me, he’ll do a great job. I’m really glad he got the part!
Could be a good actor but has zero integrity. He has no problem taking everything from everybody, using them to what benefits himself and he screwed the person who got him in the game. No honor just a taker. Shame on him. He has no manners and was dismissive to the hard working woman who has changed his life before he quickly disposed of her, He made a terrible mistake and has ZERO class. I was around a great friend ad she literally changed his life within 6 months, We don’t appreciate ingrates.
This person still speaks highly of him as an actor but this is NOT the 1st time he has screwed over people in the industry as long as he gets what he wants. Welcome to Holywood.
Who ever wrote this is an idiot because if you watch the movie caleb is the kid next to the kid that sold his shirt. You can tell because the kid that sold his shirt has blond hair, caleb has red hair and you can also tell by his face and his voice.
I just saw X-Men First Class, and I personally thought it was AWESOME! Banshee was my favorite character =) I can’t wait for the part 2 of X-Men First Class to come out=)
