This is that Roger Corman and Syfy Channel’s schlockfest — a Navy-engineered killing machine that’s a shark in a dress made of tentacles – I told you about earlier this year. It capitalizes on the straight-to-video pic Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on Yahoo’s Top 10 most viewed trailers of 2009. So Karen O’Hara, Syfy’s boss of original movies, announced via Twitter a greenlight for the long gestating Sharktopus! Love that Corman, who’s already made Supergator, Dinocroc, and Dinoshark, has given the pic a fab Beach Blanket Bingo vibe. (In answer to your queries, that theme song was done by director Declan O’Brien’s two nieces and their band, the Cheetah Whores):

That’s FREAKIN’ GREAT!! No doubt there will be a “Sharktopus 2.”
“ALTO” indeed.
Gawd, I thought Eric Roberts was rebounding with his career…
Sad part is that this is the rebound.
In a recent interview, Julie and Roger Corman said they would only do one more creature film after SHARKTOPUS, and Roger said the “inevitable next one” would be DINOCROC VS. SHARKTOPUS.

“…greatness comes with a price…”
Umm, yeah, and so does dignity. A root canal looks more entertaining then this.
Get off your high horse. This looks awesome for what it is.
Do you eat out of the garbage, too?
Lowering of standards? You understand “camp”, right? It’s 1/2 shark 1/2 octopus. It’s Roger Fricking Corman doing what he’s been doing since the 50s. Get a clue. And a sense of humor.
You wouldn’t know “camp” if it bit you a new asshole. Which you obviously don’t need. I suggest you look up the definition of camp before you bandy about words without knowing their definition. There’s nothing funny about stupidity. Even if it’s only meant to pacify ignorant lonely losers who have nothing more worthwhile to occupy their lives on a Saturday night. Thanks to you & your ilk justifying such dreck, the downward spiral caused by this endemic need to dumb down everything will just continue.
It’s going to be awesome. Possibly even as good as Deborah Gibson and Tiffany in “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid”!

That looks AWESOME. I can’t wait to see it.
I don’t think I’ve laughed this hard in a while…
Ya gotta love Roger Corman.
That’s ridiculous. Sharktopusi don’t roar!
Greatness comes at a price! Preach on Eric Roberts.
Destined to be a cult classic.
Oh joy. Another women being killed in skimpy bikinis movie. :/
Is this film based upon the Aaron Sorkin stage play of the same name?
Ha! Okay, that one got me.
David Mamet I believe.
Peter Benchley is rolling over in his grave.
Did you ever read Jaws? It was way more campy than this. How about “The Beast”?
Actually looks better than the Piranha 3-D trailer.
A new cult classic, but that music completely sucks. I’d rather have some cheesy horror movie soundtrack.
Does anyone know the name of the song that’s playing in the trailer?
Or perhaps the name of the band?
I really gotta know it- That song is f’ing awesome!
You should know, you made it.
The Cheetah Whores wrote and perform this song.
Thanks,
CW
If you don’t like this – then I feel sorry that all the joy in your life is gone.
This looks awesome!
I can’t tell if it’s the worst film ever or the best.
My first writing job ever was for Roger Corman. I was given 4 days to write 100 pages. All the cliches were true: re-using sets, the film was shot in 9 days, had to re-use car chase footage from a previous film, Joe Estevez as the gruff police captain…
I loved every minute.
It ain’t Shakespeare, but it is a right of passage in this town. Long live Sharktopus!
LMFAO!!!!
Is this a sequel to the James Bond “Octopussy”?
Effects are strangely gripping for a B movie. This has a fresh, all-American dementia sadly missing from the average schlock ritual.
Eric Roberts better get eaten ALIVE! I mean, decapitated, then eaten alive!
How many times are we going to see the same old sharktopus??
Kids should be forced to watch Eric Roberts in this to scare them off cocaine.
Dreadful if you’re over 8. But still much better than that Todd Solondz thing from the other day which was a new low.
