This is that Roger Corman and Syfy Channel’s schlockfest — a Navy-engineered killing machine that’s a shark in a dress made of tentacles – I told you about earlier this year. It capitalizes on the straight-to-video pic Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on Yahoo’s Top 10 most viewed trailers of 2009. So Karen O’Hara, Syfy’s boss of original movies, announced via Twitter a greenlight for the long gestating Sharktopus! Love that Corman, who’s already made Supergator, Dinocroc, and Dinoshark, has given the pic a fab Beach Blanket Bingo vibe. (In answer to your queries, that theme song was done by director Declan O’Brien’s two nieces and their band, the Cheetah Whores):

LOL. You know the mouth of an octopus is located at the end where its tentacles are? Sharktopus has tentacles at the back end, plus a shark’s head at the front end — which means it has NO BEHIND. So how does it … oh, just forget it…

Eric Roberts looks like he’s having a great time. The trailer is ultra-goofy but it earned a spot in Doc Schlock’s TIVO cue because of the rad & hilarious bunjee jumper gag.

This looks pretty entertaining, ie, there’s lots of shots of the monster and they seem to be of reasonably high quality. This shouldn’t be confused with the crap The Asylum cranks out where there’s only five special effects shots and they’re all in the trailer.
That’s precisely what is wrong with America in general and Hollywood in particular. You have no taste. Period. Enjoy your octodinopussies and leave the world alone!

Look at who is putting this out and look at when. This is a case of it is what it is. And I gotta tell you – had more fun working on this than many of the so called ‘legit’ films. The actors were all polite and spent time with people behind the scenes. Eric Roberts is genuinely funny in this. And the young male lead is as good as you’re gonna get in one of these films. Watch it as it was intended – tongue firmly planted in cheek. How many of you people actually watched Dr. Zhivago? I know, I know. GREAT film and filmmaking. I’ll take your word for it.

This movie is gonna be a cult classic creature feature! We’ve been waiting Corman! This band choice is simply perfection to rockabilly extreme! Guess there’s an album with some pumped chick songs from the Cheetah Whores coming soon! I actually expect some head-thrashing vibes from this album! Just gets MY panties in a bunch!!!
