TV Land has picked up Hot in Cleveland for a second season some 3 episodes into the breakout sitcom’s freshman run. The cable network has ordered 20 new episodes, which will begin production in the fall with a launch tentatively scheduled for January 2011. Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White will return as regulars on the show, created/showrun by Suzanne Martin and executive produced by Martin and Hazy Mills Prods.’ Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. “We are so excited that Hot in Cleveland was embraced by viewers in such a big way,” said TV Land president Larry W. Jones. “We absolutely love the show and can’t wait to see what hilarious new experiences these characters will encounter in the next 20 episodes.”
Fueled by the enormous popularity of White, Hot in Cleveland, TV Land’ first original scripted series, drew 4.8 million viewers in its June 16 debut, making network history as TV Land’s highest-rated and most-watched telecast ever. The ratings have gone down since but the series is still a solid performer, delivering 4.7 million cume total viewers per episode so far. Additionally Hot in Cleveland was recently acquired by Endemol for global distribution. The show already successfully premiered in Canada on July 5. (That was kind of expected as Cleveland is a border town.) Hot in Cleveland revolves around three fabulous best friends from LA (Bertinelli, Leeves, Malick) who start a new life in Cleveland, renting a house that came with a feisty caretaker (White). The quartet recently made a video plea to NBA star LeBron James to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I’m totally shocked!!! I saw the pilot and another episode and felt it was lame all the way. It doesn’t matter Betty White is hanging around like a square peg in a round hole of younger has-beens either. It’s just a dumb premise and an even thinner laugh track.

Hot In Cleveland is one of the best TV shows ever. Valerie Bartinelli is a fantastic actress who brings excitement & perfect comedic timing to excellent scripts. Betty White has always been one of the best on TV, and adds a stellar light along with Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves. The storylines emphasize situations about relationships that occur all the time in real life. There have been so many special scenes that shall someday land in the “TV Hall of Fame”. Among these is Betty White with the others in the basement admiring all hr stolen goods. Her mug shot is precious after Melanie’s boyfriend arrests her when he finds out she stole the loot. All the shows have made my friends, family and I feel verbally tickled. This is one show that is for everyone.
Then you should have watched more than the first episode. It gets much better. Even most successful shows don’t hit it out of the park in their first episodes.

I’ve been watching Hot in Cleveland online and, while I’m not a big fan of the sitcom genre, I’ve really enjoyed this show. It’s consistently funny, all the performers are pros, and I plan to keep watching. It’s also nice to see a show with some mature women on it, vs. 20-something guys.
Best thing TvLand has done in ages. Their reality programming is pretty lame and they are continuing not to renew classics at a pretty rapid pace. Hot in Cleveland renewal was a foregone conclusion given the number of viewers it brought. Love the girls on the show – all of them.
I’m really excited! It’s nice to see TV Land supporting their first original sitcom and it’s terrific news that all four cast members will be back for all 20 episodes!
I wonder what Betty White’s salary is? $100k per episode? Less?
The show is hilarious! It gets better every week. Reeves is on fire with White in their interactions!

I’m afraid I have to agree, I’m watching, but its disappointing.
This post probably won’t get noticed but then I’m late to the game here. This show is a delightful throwback and a few of the scripts have been weak. But, when they are on their game they are laugh out loud funny. All of the actresses play to their best qualities and they interact like old friends. I don’t know of any comedy that I am laughing this much at; except, maybe “Louie”, which keeps getting better too.
This show is EXCELLENT and should be on for years to come. TVLand really hit a HOME RUN with this show! Every episode is funny.
I adore the show.. One of the best sitcoms on TV. Even my “Golden Girls is gay” husband loves it. They are all good actresses (unlike tons of wanna be sitcom actors on TV) and this is a hilarious not-pretentious sitcom we were missing.
It is great slapstick humor so appreciate it for what it is. The timing is perfect and the characters interact so well. It is funny, charming, and Betty White is totally fabulous.
Lighten up, and just enjoy the silly slapstick humor.

I love it they remind me of Designing Women only these gals are not southern, very modern, honest, and they laugh at themselves. Betty White is not only funny because she is an old timer but because of the things she says and how she says them, mannerisms and all. They all act like people you would love to meet and talk to……or have for a neighbor…light and funny for a change no drugs, no death by choking, things happen but they always have a solution filled with laughs and a serious message behind it……..
I wasn’t sure I’d even like it, but I was hooked from the first show. I live 10 miles outside of Cleveland and I find the jokes spot-on! Sure, there were a few rumbles, (especially about the joke “No matter how big, you can still wear shorts!”) To these ladies I say lighten’ up and drop a few pounds!

I would like to sincerely say that, as a 14 year old girl, I LOVE hot in cleveland with a passion. Melanie is so adorable you just have to smile, Victoria is vain yet amusing, the conflicts between Joice (sorry if I got the name wrong) and Elka are just HISTERICAL and when it all comes together, I think that it’s one of the best shows out there today.
I LOVE Betty White. She is fantastic and I think she should run for President or better yet, head of the world! The show is great and very fun and I am excited to see it is in the works for another 20 episodes. Betty, keep it up!! We ALL love and adore you and think you are ONE SPECIAL LADY!!!
