EXCLUSIVE: The X Files star has been cast as MI7 secret agent Pamela Head in Johnny English Reborn. The Working Title film starts shooting in September. Anderson stars opposite Rowan Atkinson, reprising his turn as the buffoonish spy. She’s represented by CAA and Independent Talent in London.

At this rate, I would watch Gillian in anything. Why is she pidgeonholed as Scully. She is more than that. And she wurprises with that top secret accent of hers. I could here that for hours (two at least)
P.S. I am always one for good hollywood team-ups; David Duchovny and Gillian are so great together, did it ever occur to Hollywood to put them in another project? That’s an idea.
Johnny English? Really? Shouldn’t somebody be reminding Gillian Anderson about the power of “No.” Maybe if Rowan Atkinson were doing another series of Black Adder . . .
Instead, I would hope that Chris Carter and/or Fox and/or Duchovny & Anderson realize that it would actually be smart to revive The X-Files one last time to wrap up the Mayan Calendar part of the Black Oil/Invasion arc. Since, like, 2012 is only a year and a half away.
But not as a movie. Fox’s movie division botched the release of the underrated second movie, I Want To Believe, which should have been released in the winter rather than the summer.
I would hope that they’d do it as a six-hour miniseres for television. Via FX or SyFy. Instant DVD release the week after the third part airs. It’s not as if there’s no precedent — Torchwood: Children of Earth showed that you can take that kind of an approach if the story allows for it. An X-Files story might be a bit slower, more contemplative, moodier in places — The X-Files is sci-fi noir, after all, while Torchwood is borderline superhero — but the still-dangling threads from the last season of The X-Files certainly provide the potential for breakneck action where necessary.

ESTOY DE ACUERDO CON EL COMENTARIO Y EL VERDADERO X FILES ES PORQUE NO HAN HECHO ALGUN OTRO PROYECTO JUNTOS ¡¡ ¿QUE HUBIERA PASADO CON THE JONESES O STRAIGHTHEADS SI LOS PROTAGONISTAS FUERAN DAVID Y GILLIAN? ¡BLOCKBUSTER!!
I would give you more creedence if you could spell. Even just a little bit.
It’s no secret Ms. Anderson is VERY selective in the roles she chooses, she isn’t type cast as Scully and hasn’t been since the series ended. You sir, are a moron.
“Credence” is spelled with one E. Just sayin’.
i want to believe
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
OMG! What a come down for Ms Anderson. Who the hell would spend their money on a film with Rowan Atkinson.
Thanks for posting the pic; I forgot how ravishingly beautiful Gillian is.
Isn’t this movie about 5 years too late?
Yes , we remember Dame Vera Lynn… every soldier’s sweetheart frm ww2 and her music still sounds wonderful today .. can’t hear ‘white cliffs of dover’ without thinking of all the pilots ( british, canadian, anzac and american) that died in the battle of britain..
I always thought that had Ms. Anderson had got the Oscar nom she deserved for House of Mirth, she’d be be an even bigger star today
I can not wait!! I love Gillian!!
Gillian Anderson and Rowan Atkinson together? I loved that!
I would be interested to see Gillian Anderson in a silly romp. I suspect she chose the role to do a bit of slapstick for a change, and maybe for a challenge.
“I would give you more creedence if you could spell.”
I don’t know if anyone needs your “creedence,” pal.
While I’d much rather see a Blackadder movie, Gillian Anderson had a hot bod in 2007′s Straightheads, so I’ll give this a passing glance.
POR DIOS PARA CUANDO UN PAPEL PROTAGONICO PARA GILLIAN? ES BUENO VERLA EN NUEVAS PELICULAS PERO PORQUE SI TODO EL MUNDO ESTA DE ACUERDO EN QUE SON LA MEJOR PAREJA DE LA PANTALLA NO TRABAJA CON DUCHOVNY EN OTROS PROYECTOS? PAGARIA LO QUE FUERA POR VER THE JONESES CON DAVID Y GILLIAN EN VEZ DE DAVID Y DEMI.
I can understand her need to do Universal’s comedy, but given the critical reviews of Rowan’s first film this is a very risky way to enter the world of the big screen. However, it is exposure and Gillian has a broad range of talent that has yet to be exploited by Hollywood or the film industry. It is far out there as a choice and very different from her TV and other roles as well as stage appearances in London. Let’s hope this choice is a good one as the first film was far too horrible to pay money to view. On the other hand, risk is what is needed to bring success if she can pull it off above what this sequel may bring in critical reviews.
