It’s very amicable and she wants to remain an agent. She will be a consultant to UTA for the next few months while she lines up her next job. I hear the reason UTA let her go is because of a personality conflict. A protege of David Kramer, Hernandez has a solid roster of clients and an excellent reputation. “She is one of the few agents who protects her clients’ creative voices and individuality, and because of that her writers are very loyal to her,” a tipster tells me.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Personality conflict is Hollywood for everyone thinks she’s a pain in the ass to work with and life’s too short.
Love her. Great taste
Wow that’s sad. She is one of the few non agenty agents. Artists trust her and she has an amazing nose for talent. I guess now agents need to just turn over quarterly profits rather than help build careers for the long term. She was one of the few people there who read everything and came up with original ideas for projects. I hope she lands somewhere great.

Go to Verve.
Shared a client with her once. Great person and agree with others that she was one of the few who truly ‘did the work’ and read everything.
Rio is one of the few I can speak to without feeling slimed afterward. I’m sure she will land on her feet and continue to do good work.
Rio is a super agent with great taste and a genuine passion for quality film and filmmakers — a rarity in this town, let’s be honest. She’s also an incredibly nice, thoughtful person who isn’t just an “agent.” UTA’s loss will be someone else’s gain. Any agency or management company would lucky to have her. Go Rio!
GO TO VERVE!!!!
I think someone wants you at Verve?
rio is one of the GOOD ones. she READS everything. good taste, and wasn’t afraid to have a POV. i’m not worried about her landing somewhere good. her new home will be lucky to have her. RIO!!
She was not fired. She left because of the stifling environment and because she puts her clients first. Just last week, I heard one of David Kramer’s major clients complaining that the place was dysfunctional and nothing was getting done. I can’t wait to see what Rio does next. She’s definitely the brightest agent I have ever met.
Ditto to every positive comment on this page about Rio!!! There goes the only agent I liked at that place… Can’t wait to read about their regret when she goes on to kick ass elsewhere.
Ditto all the positive comments. Wonderful to deal with and had an incredible eye for talent. I worked with her a great deal and found she always had the client’s best interests at heart. Vaya Con Dios, Rio!
UTA dysfunctional?! Whaaaa….?
What’s that old adage about the fish stinking from
the head….? Look at the head of that agency (hmmm Berkus, maybe?) to see why everything below smells so bad.
Good luck, Rio.
UTA’s loss.
Seems like UTA had to play nice by allowing a ‘consulting’ period to take place. Those in agency world know that when the clock strikes 12 the carriage changes and you are out. Good client list, good agent.
GO to verve.
Rio is amazing. An agency should count themselves lucky to have her.
