Ummm School Pride on the 17th…? Didn’t make the list?
Did anybody like The Event? If it is as good as some people are saying, I hope that it debuts to huge ratings
kind of annoyed it’s going head to head with the equally awesome “Lonestar”… Sophie’s Choice! Good thing both networks are on Hulu.
Lonestar is gonna be good, check that out instead!
To this seasoned TV promo worker bee, Lonestar looks like a piece o’ crap. Don’t think it will last more than a couple of eps.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Pilot was good, give it a chance.
Finally the nets are getting a little smarter – roll out everything the same week! Make it an event -
It gets viewers excited (and watching)!
Now if only the auto makers could figure out that they should take a page from history and announce
(and advertise on TV) their new car lines that same premiere week – maybe they can turn a profit.
Why the hell did the networks and auto companies think a premiere week was originally adopted?
It was to get America’s viewers excited, watching TV and buying cars.
We got away from that and now we all watch cable and drive foreign cars but just maybe showmanship is rising from the grave!
wow. that kind of makes sense.
Do you think Outsourced should have been mixed in with the other NBC comedies? Does anyone think that they maybe switching The Office and Outsourced could be positive to both The Apprentice and the new program?
Well, in the 9-9:30pm half hour NBC’s ‘Office’ tends to win or tie with ‘Grey’s’ and mostly beats CSI. As much as it would benefit ‘The Apprentice’, it would probably mean lower ratings for the 1st half hr and once people tune in to hour-long dramas at 9pm they clearly may not be as excited to tune into ‘The Office’ at 9:30pm.
‘The Office’ stays where it is.
I heard that almost nobody in the industry seen a final cut of the event yet, but lucky for me i have passes to the comic con and watching the pilot of the event is on the top of my list
Does anybody know when “The Cape” is going to premiere?
It’s being held until midseason. I assume it will get the usual 13 episode run in starting in the Spring.
you mean the show about a guy who fights crime using a cape? He’s fighting crime with a cape. A cape.
Has anyone seen Undercovers? It looks like a USA show, which might be a good thing for NBC.
I’ve seen it. The pilot is way better than the trailers that NBC’s been running. They don’t do the show justice. It’s surprisingly good. JJ Abrams and all…the pedigree shows.
I heard school pride is really good..
how come its not on the list?
School Pride is on the list. Friday at 8, premiering on 9/24 along with the rest of the lineup.
NBC has a really good chance of turning things around and making a huge comeback this season. If I were in charge of programming, I wouldn’t leave “Law & Order: SVU” on Wednesdays @ 9:00. I would either switch times with “Law & Order: Los Angeles” or put it on Thursdays @ 10:00 instead of “Outlaw”. I’m just sayin’.
No, Law & Order should go up aganist NCIS on Tuesday’s from 8 to 10.
Law & Order SVU vs. NCIS
Law & Order LA vs. NCIS LA
That’s a real battle for ratings!
You must ben an NBC flack or exec. Two of the nights are virtually the same as they’ve been, with Biggest Loser, Law and Order et all. Then, Friday is a complete throwaway. Saturday is a complete throwaway. And Sunday is football in the fall, then throwaways after that. So you’re basing your prediction that NBC has a good chance to turn it around on only two new nights of programming. even if those nights sounded promising – and they don’t – you’d be far off the mark.
I predict Outsourced will be their biggest bomb since Coupling.
Maybe it will be funny, but who wants to tune into a show about jobs going overseas? It just hits too close to home in this economy.
Exactly, and the none too subtle “What if the Obamas were Spies?” Undercovers will fail too. PC and Diversity make you stupid. Taye Diggs is one hell of an actor, and quite possibly the world’s handsomest man. HE could not make a “Diversity” (read: non-White) majority cast a winner in “Kevin Hill.”
Undercovers seems a bad mix of Obama worship, and Diversity pandering (so Jessie Jackson will not hold up the Comcast purchase) with a tired, cliched “Alias” premise (itself copied by the what, fourth iteration of La Femme Nikita?)
Only NBC idiots would green light something as stupid as Outsourced. Yes, lets laugh at all the jobs going to India, with stupid Americans not being smart enough to be Indian, at a time of wide unemployment.
Nobody wants anything political, not Liberal, and not Conservative. They just want entertainment. Lacking in this lineup. Football’s the only thing worth seeing on NBC. [Chuck seems tired and in a creative corner.]
I guess all Black people look alike to you, huh?
Only someone as focused on race as you are would assume that the lead in Undercovers is played by Taye Diggs and not by the guy that is really cast as the lead–Boris Kudjoe. Who, I might add, is some serious eye candy.
You obviously haven’t seen the show. It’s light, fluffy entertainment. And it’s pretty good, too. JJ Abrams is the EP.
Jesse Jackson hasn’t been relevant since God was a boy.
Take your race-based crap and shove it.
You hear that a lot here. It’s well-deserved.
TVGOd gets a shot of Whiskey!
Since TVGOd has displayed his/her fallibility is he/she now TVdeMIGOd?
Saturday night continues to spiral down the shithole.
Already slating which RERUNS are going to get repurposed.
How about partnering with CBC or BBC and generating some low-budget drama or comedies for original programming? Maybe something that will appeal to an older demographic that stays home on Saturday nights.
Instead of fighting the tide, the networks are giving up on an entire night of the week.
Simply lazy and pathetic.
Is Parks & Rec slated for mid-Season? And what about Friends with Benefits?
I remember when Sat night was essential television 40 years ago and if you went out you missed All in the Family and Mary Tyler Moore. With DVRs and their ratings counting for ad sales, I also don’t understand why the broadcast nets don’t program Sat. I guess it’s just not economically viable any more with the dominance of cable and such a splintered audience.
Is there a way to get my DVR to guarantee that it doesn’t record even one second of OUTSOURCED? Love 30 Rock and Community, like The Office, but wow do i not want to support Outsourced. One of the worst pilots I’ve ever seen, except of course the trailer joke about an Indian guy’s name sounding almost like Manmeet!!! Ha ha ha, he’s Indian, his name is not Paul or John! Oh man! Comedy gold!
I don’t find a single new show here that I want to see. Outsourced? And praise for The Event? The shows sound awful! Those praising this crap here must be the interns of NBC publicists.
The Event was hot apparently at the LA screenings and a lot of critics are praising Undercovers. Outsourced is awful though.
So, NBC is essentially throwing in the towel on Saturday nights?
The only fresh programming they’ll have that night is SNL?
There’s no audience on Saturday nights. They’re, you know, out. CBS airs what they call Primetime Crime, FOX airs Cops and America’s Most Wanted, NBC airs Drama Encores (as they call them) and ABC airs college football in the Fall and movie/drama repeats after that. It’s been this way for a few years now. What’s the point of programming when there’s no audience to watch?
It’s called show business for a reason, folks.
And please don’t bring up what the 3 (!) broadcast nets were airing on Saturday nights 40 years ago. Couldn’t be less relevant to now.
I’m excited for outsourced. the movie was great, so hopefully some of those qualities that made the movie lovable will transfer to this new format.
don’t get your hopes up. you will be disappointed.
What happened to LOVE BITES? That pilot was supposedly good!
Why do you have such a hard-on for black folks on TV, Whiskey? You sound like a ranting racist fool in someone basement. Go take a nap, the meds will kick in soon.
Having worked with industry publicists for 17 years I can smell ‘em a mile away. And when I read stuff like, “The show is much better than the trailers NBC is putting out!” and “I can’t wait for The Event!” (note the exclamations!) it reeks of flackery. Folks, this lineup is laden with shows 99.999% of the country hasn’t heard of and won’t give a shit about.
In 2010, new shows on stale networks like NBC don’t get a chance. So without a recognizable star or “sequel-bility” regular people just don’t care. The above lineup is doomed.
Nobody heard of the majority of Lost castmembers until 2004 and Heroes until 2006
Yep. The powerful and obnoxious odor of flackery.(If my TiVO records nothing on NBC this coming season, it won’t be because I forgot to program it.)
