Snore. Would have been a decent HBO film, not a theatrical release.
Love the a capella ‘Creep’.
Couldn’t say I’m particularly invested in the story but I find myself excited for this. Unabashed Sorkin fan.
so far i’ve seen two teasers with no actors and now this trailer which begins with a cover of creep by radiohead and a bunch of facebook website shots ie more shots without actors – by the time it cuts to the acting, i realize the reason for the actorless teasers: BOMB
This was possibly the best script of last year and it looks like it will be one of the best films as well. Congrats to Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield, who are rightfully blowing up.
In. All the way in!
I keep hearing I’m supposed to be excited about this movie.
i saw the midnight showing of inception in ny (every theater in the city sold out) – the “social network” trailer was still the teaser (the first teaser, not the typing teaser and not the full trailer to ‘creep’).
also, when m. night shyamalan’s name came up for the “devil” trailer the theater literally erupted into laughter…almost depressing to see how far he has dropped apparently.
and in other news “inception” is the most entertaining movie i think i’ve ever seen. yes, that’s just a subjective opinion, and used the word entertaining, not best.
Everyone laugh when m nights came up in a Philly suburb last night
Why did this movie need to get made again?
Nolan and Fincher are in a league of their own
The movie looks flaccid. What is the over/under on historical and legal inaccuracies? I am going with +/- 20.
When I first heard about this, I figured a movie about guys making a website would be as exciting and dramatic as watching paint dry.
Having seen the trailer, I think the drying paint is more likely to win awards for direction, drama and acting.
The photography looked ok, I’ll give them that. Otherwise, I assume the trailer contains most of the “exciting” scenes, thus the rest of the movie is even duller than this trailer.
I doubt the movie will be making many friends.
Went to the INCEPTIONS prem. on the 8th.
Found it confused, but beautiful to look at, and good performances, and visual effects. I couldn’t understand what Ellen Page was doing in there, or why she would take part in their heist. Tom Hardy and Leo were excellent.
But I gave up trying to work out what was going on after about an hour, and just watched the pretty images pass on the screen, which was almost enough.
Best trailer of 2010. The use of Radiohead’s Creep is pitch-perfect since it’s a song about social anxiety and unrealistic expectations from others around us. Sorkin and Fincher seem to be diving in the the ironic motivations that led to the creation of Facebook – the fact that Zuckerberg wanted to feel accepted into his social surroundings beyond everything else.
Well said, and to Mr. Sorkin and Mr. Fincher, well done, well done indeed. I’ve heard the script is tremendous. So I’m thrilled to hear this will go beyond a great trailer and actually have a compelling story. And of course Sorkin’s magic with wit and dialogue. And this rendition of creep is chilling, chilling I say! Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all was swell till Timberlakes mug showed up
totally agree. he took me out of the trailer that was actually very good. I could never see him as an actor…
I think Fincher looks like he is making something of a dark comedy and satire, I love the way the party scenes and cinematography look.
If the performances are solid and the script is smart, Fincher can handle doing the visuals like no other filmmaker around.
It launched on Yahoo yesterday
I wouldn’t have thought a choir could reinvent Radiohead’s “Creep” and make me love it…but they did. And I wouldn’t have thought anyone could get me interested in seeing a movie about freaking Facebook…but they did.
my only complaint – as someone who went to Harvard, what’s with the lack of asian and indian faces – i know the focus of the movie is on three particular real life students, but Harvard is a very diverse school – when i was there, whites were in the minority, and yet in this movie and in almost every drama and TV show, Harvard is shown as a bunch of WASPy preppies – its just not accurate at all
@ TadAllagash
You nailed it. The institutionalization of nearly total whites-only actors and tokenism is getting worse in Hollywood casting. It’s like the last system of apartheid.
Actually…one of those guys is supposed to be Indian, lol. The one that says “You’ll be writing us a check or whatever” is named Divya, played by Max Minghella.
incredible trailer.
Like (Love, in fact.)
Great trailer making. And I just love Jesse Eisenberg.
Best trailer of the year. Can’t believe they went through all the trouble to clear the rights for “Creep”.
Movie looks interesting. But we all already know how facebook turned out so it may take some edge off. It is the first film that puts perspective on the 00′s.
This trailer is as lame and incoherent as the previous one. I wasn’t planning to see it based on the earlier trailer, and now I’m even less so, if that were even possible. What’s it about? Who’s in it? It could be the best movie in the world, but whoever’s doing PR is totally burying it with this promotional campaign.
Out of touch. The first two teasers were meh, but whoever made *this* trailer, the real one, needs to win every award imaginable. Best trailer of the year, easily.
Ha! So wrong.
What is wrong with you guys? We’re given a preview of the most sharp/relevant movie of the moment, and all we hear from people like you is “meh”.
I’m not surprised, since this site’s main demographic is struggling middle-age entertainment industry types trying to stay up on “what’s happening”. Off yourselves.
I’m iffy on the trailer, but it definitely wasn’t incoherent. The story is pretty simple.
Great trailer! Great song for the trailer. Hopefully the film will be as good.
I’m glad this movie got made. I’d rather see a “Pre-Awareness” based movie about a current phenomenon than another crap bucket about Mr. Potato Head or the Partridge Family. At least this movie is based on source material that is relevant.
If it doesn’t make money at least it’s a document of the times.
To the people who hate Jesse Eisenberg, um, yeah, that’s kind of the point. Zuckerberg is a douche and you’re supposed to hate him while you envy him.
To the Justin Timberlake haters, sorry. The guy is more talented than any of you, period. He sings, he dances, and he’s consistently funny. He deserves his success and he banged Cameron Diaz.
