We might have seen the last episode of Scoundrels on Sunday after ABC’s original scripted drama sunk to a 0.6 rating/2 rating in adults 18-49 at 9 PM last night, down 14% from last week. That was an all-time low for the show and matched the 0.6 18-49 rating fellow ABC drama Happy Town pulled before being yanked from the schedule. ABC’s other Sunday scripted summer series, The Gates (0.9/3) at 10 PM, seems to have leveled off after the initial decline and was flat from last week. ABC’s highest-rated program for the night was 7 PM leadoff America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.4/5 in rerun), followed by 8 PM anchor Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.2/4, also in rerun). CBS’ Big Brother (2.5/8) was up 9% from last week, followed by repeats of Undercover Boss (1.4/4) and Cold Case (0.8/3). Fox won the night with comedy reruns, led by back-to-back Family Guy episodes at 9PM (2.3/7) and 9:30PM (2.5/7). Its original Sons of Tucson at 7PM tied Scoundrels as the lowest-rated program of the night. Fox still won the night in adults 18-49. NBC aired all-repeats, with an America’s Got Talent (1.0/3) encore winning the 9-11 PM time period.

Sorry to hear about “Scoundrels.” Virginia Madsen is a welcome addition to the tv screen and she’s had some good acting moments on camera.
Completely agree, although I think her fan base is small.
Also, this Sunday was especially tough with the Mad Men premiere on AMC plus Rubicon ‘sneak preview’, the latter promising to be a very challenging series for viewers (which I think we all need from time to time).
Scoundrels is a very funny , well written and well acted show. Its a shame if they cancelled it. Maybe it is too intelligent for ABC viewers.
I hope they don’t pull Scoundrels. They had already cut the order down to 8 before it aired and only 3 are left. I can already see they aren’t gonna renew this, but they should at least let us who have committed to the show see everything. Now The Gates is a really good show I would like to see continue in the fall or anything for that matter as long as it gets renewed.
I would like to see the gates continue, but it seems very unlikely these are very low ratings, even though it has the hightest number of unique viewers of any show of those viewing it online.
I think Housewives and brothers repeats would be doing a better job at this point.
Scoundrels is just an awful, awful television show. Every episode is exactly the same. It’s like they have some sort of mad libs script where they are just filling in the blanks.
This is how the show works out every week: Some sort of conflict arises (this week it was the lights going out), kids bitch about having to go straight, Virginia Madsen talks to husband who gives her a hard time about going straight, kids do something illegal, Virginia Madsen has a scene where she declares that she is doing the best she can, everything works out in the end.
You know how you can tell this show is awful? You are watching the show and you think to yourself we have to be like 30 minutes into this thing and you find out that it’s only been 8 minutes. It’s painfully slow and excruciating to watch. Deciding not to be on this horrid show is the best thing Neal McDonough ever did.
I thought the same thing about Neal McDonough. Being fired from this loser show was the best thing that happened to him.
“this is how the show works out every week” – You can say that about every show on tv. Take ‘House’ for example. Someone is sick – all Doc are totally confused – they argue – House is rude – House is the genius.
I just want to barf when I think about the fact that America wants to watch reality TV rather than a great scripted show. We are turning into the America in “Idiocracy”, the Mike Judge movie where the most popular show in America is “Ow My Balls”. We are a bunch of fucking idiots!
But it’s not a great scripted show. That’s why nobody’s watching it.
ITA Kimbie. People’s choice in their TV watching is quite baffling to me. I enjoy Scoundrels. The fact that ABC hasn’t put up a preview/promo for the show in I can’t remember when has a lot to do with the slip in ratings. They continue to advertise ‘The Gates’ quite a bit and it’s ratings aren’t much better. So for Scoundrels to keep pace with no ads has got to say something.
Contreversy is my thing, I like to really put on a show. My forte is building relationships and handling them my way. Viewer ratings are high and will continue to be high go Julie Cheng
