LOVE Deadliest Catch, it always seemed like the best reality show to me, its not trashy and full of sex just for ratings. It’s breaking my heart to see Captain Phil (R.I.P.) go through what he went through, and to see the sons deal with it. It’s surreal to see the first reality show to deal with a long-running cast member pass away, and the whole process surrounding that, but its what Phil wanted.
how can anyone with a sense of humor watch tosh.0?
I agree. This is like a Web 2.0 version of America’s Funniest Home Videos. Does it get any cheaper?
Tosh is one of the smartest, funniest comics working today. Ask any of the other stand ups out there. My guess is you are most likely too slow to get his biting, acerbic humor or that he has possibly offended you along the way. Run along and watch your Jeff Dunham puppet and leave Tosh for the rest of us who like our comedy a bit edgier.
What is it that you don’t find funny about the show?
Tosh has no reservations about making fun of himself, celebrities, gays or any race…Thats why its a fun show, because its a show that seems to abide by no rules at all.
I’m black and I’m still laughing my ass off when he’s making fun of my race. How many white comedians do you know that could get away with that? Mainly because I know he isn’t racist, he’s just makes fun of everyone no matter who they are.
That ability to relate to anyone is what seems to make him special. And he’s surprisingly athletic for a skinny, potbellied white boy. lol
Agree with KO. Nobody is safe which is what makes it ok to make fun of anyone and everyone. I can understand saying it’s not your favorite humor, but to say there’s nothing funny at all? It’s hard to take that kind of comment seriously. I think it’s one of the funniest shows out there, myself.
I’m a latecomer to Tosh. I don’t really care about the clips Tosh shows; it’s the biting comments that happen afterward that make the show a blast to watch. The dude is hilariously mean and always has an interesting viewpoint. Great show.
You know, a real distinction needs to be made between “reality” TV and “documentarian” TV. The Deadliest Catch often gets classified in the former, when really, it should be in the latter.
Sure they set up a few scenarios — the get-togethers before they head out for the season, I’m sure they have the captains talking to each other more than necessary when they are out at sea, and the reunions. But everything else? They’re just doing their job and happen to have cameras following them. No writers involved.
When I first saw Tosh I thought he was another douchy, Dane Cook type of comic. While he’s not great he’s much funnier than you might think at first.
