UPDATE: NBC’s new series Los & Order: Los Angeles has locked in its cast, with one day to spare. CSI: Miami alumna Wanda De Jesus and former Ally McBeal co-star Regina Hall have landed the last regular
roles on the crime procedural, which starts production on Monday. De Jesus will play Lieutenant Arleen Gonzales, the cool and authoritative captain of the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division. Hall will play DDA Eva Price, a gorgeous and brainy bombshell with a strong sense of moral rectitude. The two join previously cast Skeet Ulrich, Alfred Molina, Terrence Howard, Corey Stoll. De Jesus, repped by Diverse Talent and manager Bob McGowan, appears on All My Children. One of Hall’s first acting gigs was a guest spot on New York Undercover co-created by Dick Wolf. The actress, repped by ICM and Principato Young, went on to work mostly in features (Scary Movie, Death At A Funeral). Molina and Howard will alternate as Deputy D.A.s, while Ulrich and Stoll play Detective Rex Winters and TJ Jaruszalski, respectively.

very quietly, in a low-ke way, L&OL.A is the show i’m looking forward to the most this Fall.
Definitely following the original L & O template in their casting.
With De Jesus in the S. Epatha Mackerson police captain role, and Hall in the role typically filled by the likes of Angie Harmon and others in the original.
So CBS has:
CSI
CSI: Miami
CSI: NY
NCIS
NCIS LA
Criminal Minds
Criminal Minds LA
and another L&O spin-off?
Is it just one long procedural now between 9-11pm over there at CBS?
It’s not Criminal Minds: LA, It’s Suspect Behavior
And wrong network on Law and Order. Law and Order is an NBC franchise.
The ability to read properly is severely under-rated in this country.
Law and Order : LA is an NBC show, not CBS
Maybe…except LOLA is on NBC. Try to keep up.
There is a reason why the original L&O tanked – its politics became more important than its plot. And the politics were so left of center that they featured stories in which we were told to feel sorry for a cop killer – on a cop show, no less. Man, I was one of THE original “L&O” addicts – never missed a show. But finally I couldn’t stomach having a show which gave me propaganda instead of entertainment. I left. And the rest of the audience did too, which is why this series justifiably collapsed.
Well, it appears that this new version has all of the old people in charge – which means it’s almost certainly going to make the same mistakes. And that’s not going to work – dreck is dreck regardless of which side of the continent it’s filmed on. If this version once again chooses politics instead of plot like the old one, it will tank and it will deserve to.
What politics are you referring to exactly?
And the original L&O did NOT tank. NBC just decided not to renew it in favor of developing new series, despite its relatively good ratings.
How old were you when Law & Order premiered? Because politics has always been a big part of the show, maybe you just missed it before. It has always been a progressive show.
How exactly does a show “collapse” after a 20 year run? It’s ratings decreased like every other show on television. Stop trying to make it something that it’s not.
YAY!!! for Regina Hall, classy, beautiful and one of the nicest! I hope LO-LA is a huge success!
Wait whos playing the DA and whats a DDA?
DDA means Deputy District Attorney.
I believe it was already reported that Alfred Molina is the DA.
The role of the DA hasn’t been cast yet. As far as I know.
The DDA is the Deputy District Attorney and effectively the State prosecutor. The Sam Wasterson role in the original.
DDA = Deputy District Attorney.
There’s only one District Attorney for every city (ie, Steve Cooley is LA’s D.A.), but in larger jurisdictions you can have hundreds of Deputy DA’s.
Looking forward to seeing hoe left wing this is going to be.
@Carolyn, I wish you conservative loud mouths would just make a White, Christian, Right-Wing Homeland like you’ve been threatening to do for decades and just move there already. Maybe Alaska, plenty of room for you hicks. Make your own Christian Right TV station with churchy, right-wing programming 24/7. Would that shut you up? What you call “left of center” is actually called real life in the non-suburban, non-small town, non-small minded world, a.k.a. EARTH. Keep your politics off the entertainment blogs. Shut up.
Finally…De Jesus gets a chance to really show her stuff!
Regina Hall
Terrence Howard
Boris Kodjoe
Guba Mbatha-Raw
All black actors in major roles.
Why won’t a network hire anyone black until they’re in the shitter?
Oh right, I forgot….
As a long term viewer of the first show “Hill Street Blues” and all the following spins off, I am very much looking forward to the new location.
