I’m excited for this one. Haters will harp on the similarities to PT&A but all that really matters is the inevitable comic chemistry between RDJ and ZG.
Nice to see Galifianakis stretch. Not like the Hangover at all. The baby-I-mean-dog is a master stroke.
What’s Downey doing in this?
This movie looks and feels painfully unfunny.
It was better with Steve Martin and John Candy.
While I would have happily greenlit this movie based on the cast alone, I did not laugh once at that trailer.
They’re mismatched. I get it.
Love the dog!
Planes, Trains & Galifianakis.
Was excited about this until I saw the trailer – This looks painfully unfunny. What happened?
Only thing funny about that entire thing is the drainage ditch. Aside from that it didn’t even make me smile. It’s so cliche. Seen this sort of thing so many times. Way to wash, rinse, repeat, per usual!
Funny how the trailer doesn’t even bother to mention the premise on which these three persons (Downey, ZG, and Fox) get thrown together on a cross-country trip. Sure “Due Date” has something to do with Downey getting to LA to witness the birth of his child. He apparently has money for hotels, snacks and gas but drives by any number of airports.
Audiences may enjoy frivolous light fare (Hangover), but movies that too obviously try to operate under an absurd premise without any way to make that audience suspend its disbelief will fail.
As soon as the cast “hit the road”, it lost me. A ton of road trip comedies already have been made.
Is Galifianakis a one trick pony? seems like he is the same in everything.
That opening bit (“My dad would never do that! He loved me!”) was pretty damn funny.
Just terrible. Zach was an interesting stand up in the 90s. He’s not a star. Yes, I know, he is a star by box office and today’s standards. But, he’s not a star. Another Mr. Forgettable of our mediocre times. Where are the great comics? The ones that will be around forever. The talents ie; Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy etc. Yes, Zach is now the fat slob. But actually Kevin James plays that role much better and has comedic acting chops that Zach lacks. As Zach’s girth grows, his beard grows and I guess he seems more like a star? But the real Zach is handsome, slim and beardless. The original Zach.
Downey is fantastic. He doesn’t need to latch on to Zach. Silly.
This film is garbage.
Thank you.
this is not funny.
Do the math on this…
Galifinaikis scored big with THE HANGOVER and was great in it. So what’s a studio going to offer him next? Most likely something in the same vein.
Give him some time to stretch out of it.
The script might be bad and it might be shaky, but even when stuff is bad, Downey is good.
Let’s hope it’s better than the trailer, but let’s wait and see.
HEAR ME OUT… Todd Phillips is SO overrated!!!!!! ok, i liked “old school” but that was a rip off on so many movies. “starsky” sucked, and so did “scoundrels”. His career was on life support before “the hangover”. and i liked “the hangover”, but without the end credit sequence, that movie would have been half as successful and i probably would have thought it was just mediocre. i was watching this film thinking “why do people think this is so funny”? i was kind of bored actually.
and this trailer blows donkey poo.
Is Zach Galifianakis supposed to be gay in this movie (not that there’s anything wrong with that)? I think he’s a cute little ruffian ball of marshmallow popcorn. Gives tons of hope to the bears at Faultline. The trailer isn’t horrible but looks verrrry Hangover-ish.
I liked it. I mean, it is what it is – light fare. As soon as I stopped judging movies against what they’re not even trying to be, I stopped being so cranky and annoyed by virtually every movie.
Zach’s character gets them booted from the plane and banned so they have to drive cross country. Silliness ensues. This isn’t a brainy comedy, but there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of fluff in our movie diets. I’ll see it.
I loved this trailer. From the very beginning I was laughing. “My dad would never do that, he loved me.” I first saw this trailer in a movie theatre and everybody laughed so…..
