William Shatner, star of CBS’ new comedy $#*! My Dad Says, defended the show’s original title, Sh*t My Dad Says, after the Twitter account it’s based on. ”I wish they’d call it sh*t,” Shatner said at the show’s TCA panel. “The word sh*t isn’t a terrible term, it’s a natural function. Why are we pussy-footing?” The 79-year-old actor, who confessed he has a young guy help him with his own tweeting, had a lot of fun going through variations of the name of the service and its messages. ”Twitter? Tweet? I know it isn’t a Twat,” he quipped. As for the show, producers said every episode will open with a Tweet which will be used by Shatner’s character at some point during the episode.

This show is doomed. CBS hastily shook up the cast — losing 2 very funny actors — and are trying to make an 80-year-old guy relevant to the Twitter audience. Not even a Big Bang lead-in can save this train wreck.

The whole reason this show exists is BECAUSE the twitter audience thought it was funny.
I’m not saying one way or another whether or not this show is going to be a success, or even if it’ll be any good. Just needed to point out what I believe might be one of the most ridiculously contradictory posts I’ve ever seen on this site.
