Terrence Howard is boarding NBC’s upcoming Law & Order spinoff, Law & Order: Los Angeles, joining Alfred Molina, Skeet Ulrich and Corey Stoll.
Howard will play a new Deputy D.A. who will work alongside Deputy D.A. Morales (Molina). Howard and Molina will be splitting the workload, each appearing roughly in the half of the episodes thus allowing the show to land big feature names and the actors to stay active in movies.
Ulrich and Stoll play Detective Rex Winters and TJ Jaruszalski. Production on LOLA is slated to begin on Aug. 2 for a Sept. 22 premiere.

Hurray! Terrence Howard is terrific, and will be a fantastic add to the LOLA ensemble. (I still hope to hire Mr. Howard to portray Frederick Douglass one day, but this will certainly be fun to watch in the meantime.)
This just in…Terrance Howard fired from Law & Order: LA
(Worst reputation ever)
agreed. Too bad all of these fans have probably never met him…
Replaced by Blair Underwood.
it’s not just the rep it’s the temper. no one wants to be scared at their job.
Say what…that can’t be right…
man I cant wait!!! Molina and Howard are some of my favorite actors. specially Howard .. lets do this!!
Damn– I really like the actors they brought together for this, but….are they planning on having any women in significant roles?
From the comment it sounds like Howard and Molina will be playing the same role (not the same character) but at different times, and hence probably not appearing together.
And if that’s the case then chances are that the role of the Assistant Deputy D.A. will likely be filled by a female character much like was the case in the original Law and Order when you had people like Angie Harmon in the role.
I’m also guessing that it will also probably be a rotating role, with different high-profile actresses playing the part for extended periods of time.
They might also go the original L&O route and cast a female as the Police captain like S Epatha Mackerson in the original.
I’m just having a harder time figuring out how they are going to differentiate themselves from Southland (at least as far as the Order (cops) part is concerned) which already feels like an L.A. L&O but without the Court aspect of it.
And L.A.’s courts are a mess as it is anyway.
Very interesting…I love all this L&O talk..I think I’ve finally
found my niche in online chatter…
Ouch.
It’s hard out here for a pimp who was nominated for an Oscar…… Damn…….
Is this a comment on the lack of feature roles for African-Americans? T.H. seems wasted in TV…
To quote a successful film producer (who I dare not say his name), “Terrence is Denzel Washington is his own mind.”
You get rid of Charles King, who fought to get you in Iron Man, then you screw that up watching Don Cheadle laugh all the way to the bank because of your idiocy and now you’re doing TV.
Good luck to the crew on that set.
“Terrence is Denzel Wahington in his own mind.”
The director is an idiot then and you are close to the same. Terrence is who Denzel should wish to be. One of the best actors we have ever had. There are few actors out today who can compare to to Terrence Howard on pure ability. He is vastly underrated. He doesn’t play well with others? Who cares! That doesn’t make him a bad actor, it just means he needs to work on his attitude. You have probably never been rude in your life though or angry at the wrong person.
There are always a lack of diverse roles for minorities, but this is more a commentary on Mr. Howard’s personality. He is the film rotten egg. He a disaster on set… bad attitude, holds up production and TV is the only option he has right now other than Broadway. Let’s see how long he lasts on LOLA.
Howard has done Broadway–he was Brick in the CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF revival a couple years’ back or so.
Good for Terrence.
Clearly there are no feature roles for black actors. The thought that Forrest Whitaker and Terrance Howard are back on TV is just sad.
Has someone told Don Cheadle that he’ll be working on season 2 of the show?
Great news! I love Don Cheadle!
I have to admit I did not rejoice when I saw this news either. Between Forest Whitaker (an AA winner!) and nominee Terrence Howard being cast on spin-offs (not even their own original shows), you have to wonder what people of color have to do to achieve value in our business.
I’m obviously not watching enough television – I didn’t know Forest was doing a tv show! I love that man.
Sometimes I wonder if actors make the switch to television for the more predictable schedules/shooting locations? Or am I being completely naive??
great actor white or black are always appearing on TV now…they just want to work in any media..the whole I’m a great actor and tv is beneath me is justignorant anyway…tv is seen by everyone it’s a great media that leads often to great roles in feature films..these are diffent times now.
Can’t stand this guy. Seriously not watching this show now. L&O in L.A. is interesting but the casting is awful.
It’ll probably be a bunch of boring fugly guys, and token female. Typical Law & Order. They don’t even have the wonderful S. Epatha Merkerson anymore. She was so good.
This just in: Howard to be replaced in season 2 by Don Cheadle!!
Decent actor, too soft for this show. Nowhere close in talent to Jesse Martin or Anthony Anderson. Further, the guy they should have gone with, who would be a natural for the show, is Henry Simmons, one of the detectives on NYPD Blue, most recently a regular on Shark. He’s got it all – looks, height, toughness, etc. Too bad the franchise blew it here.
Terrance Howard soft!?!?! Clearly you have never seen him in Hustle and Flow? Get Rich Dye Trying? Idlewild? There is not a soft bone in that man’s body as far as I’m concerned! He has played a variety of roles both soft and hard. I personally think he does better with the hard roles. I agree that he has somewhat of a history of being a jerk but haven’t we all been a jerk at times? He has his fair share of issues…but I think we all do! Give him a chance! Maybe he can turn it around
Prediction: Don Cheadle will replace Howard in Season 2.
now stop that!!! lol
Isn’t he meant to be a dick and a half? It would seem so. From Iron Man to this. Wow.
From IRON MAN to rust in his pants…..
what a shame: he went from being the highest paid actor in a superhero film (yes, him and not Downey) to having one of the starring roles on a spin-off of a worn-out show that’s been on for a record number of years.
I never grow weary of my Law and Order family…the more shows the
better I say…mmmwha
IF TERRENCE LEAVES THE SHOW, I WILL NOT WATCH IT ANYMORE, HE MADE THE SHOW!!! I LOVE HIS SERIOSNESS IN THE SHOW! SO SEXY.
I’m still waiting for a decent female to be cast to see if I will watch it. I’ve never liked the Law & Order franchise but I heard reports that they were trying to get Lucy Liu. If they do, then I’ll watch. But only then.
If lucy liu joins then I am out. How many shows have to be killed before she is cast rightly. Small doses. She is a character actor, they can find an asian that can act a part, every time I see her miscast I think “who that was qualified got screwed”:(.
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! Congratulations Terrence
Why the hell is TH in TV? He’s a movie star. He’s wasting his time. He’s too talented
TH is a talented actor, but he strikes me (and many others apparently) as the type of talent who believes his own hype. This is a potentially solid gig for most any actor, but it’s a long way from an ‘Iron Man’ type big screen franchise. If the rumors about this guy’s bloated ego are true, hopefully this career shift will teach him to have some humility. Or not…
Howard is one of the most overrated actors out there. Every time I have seen him in a film, he’s chewing the scenery like a goat.
