Tina Fey was a good sport about her NBC comedy 30 Rock surrendering the spotlight to new kids Glee and Modern Family this year, issuing two funny statements on two of her nominations for 30 Rock (she also shares a writing nom with Kay Cannon):
- on 30 Rock‘s best series nom: ”This is great news. We’re grateful and excited. Especially since today is the fifth anniversary of the day NBC forgot to cancel us.”
- On her best comedy series nomination: ”This is great and exciting news. Also, this seems like an appropriate time for me to announce to NBC that I will not be renewing my contract… with my gym,” Fey said, echoing Steve Carell’s recent statements that he plans to leave The Office when his contract expires at the end of next season.
30 Rock still did pretty well with 15 nominations, including best comedy series, writing, directing as well as acting noms in all categories except for best supporting actor.

Not some of Tina’s best one-liners but… I still LOVE HER!
Back in the glory days of what was called “MUST SEE TV”, the “creative” team @ NBC used their BEST time slots to not further any
“creative” direction but to try and put likable actors in unlikeable roles.
Tina Fey’s joke is funny because her show is hinging on the brink of cancellation based on the ratings, THIS SHOW IS FUNNY, but a sad reminder of previous series devote of humor with many more viewers.
An entire country lost faith in an establishment.
Kudos to BUZZKILL the ZUCKFEST… NBZ…ZZZZZZ days are nearing…
Time to SuperSize your creative development.
Writers should be paid better then actors if the story dictates a generation.
Steve Carell is extremely annoying and not funny in the least.
Wow. I am amazed to see any comments like that about Steve. He is a wonderful guy, a terrific actor in both comedy and drama, and takes enormous chances with his choices of film roles despite the studios trying to pigeonhole him.
Don’t know him so he might be an ass in real life, but after watching DAN IN REAL LIFE I agree completely.
How many “The Daily Show” correspondents have made such a splash?
And how many UK shows have transferred to success on US airwaves?
And managing to do so while replacing Ricky Gervais? The SOUL and brilliant white light of “The Office”
The guy’s great. Can’t wait to see his TRUMAN SHOW outreach (when the time comes and the opportunity’s offered.)
I feel sorry for you
Tina Fey is awesome. Like she’s going anywhere. She’s going to have a seat at the Emmys for years to come be it acting, writing, or producing. She’s smart, funny, and hot!
