No surprise here: freshman Rizzoli & Isles and veteran The Closer have been on fire since getting paired on Monday earlier this month. Leverage also has been a solid performer for the network, showing growth in its new Sunday slot. No word yet on freshman Memphis Beat and Hawthorne. Here is TNT’s release.
TNT has ordered new seasons of three of the network’s hit series. The Closer, which continues to rank as ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time, will return for its seventh season. Rizzoli & Isles, which currently ranks as cable’s #1 new series for the year-to-date, will return for a second season. TNT has ordered 15 episodes each of The Closer and Leverage, along with 13 episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, with all three slated to start their new seasons in 2011.

I hope Hawthorne is canned. It’s dreadful. I love Jada Pinkett Smith, and with all that talent I cannot understand for the life of me why she chose to do yet another medical show of all things.
I hope Hawthrone gets cancelled too because it’s ER lite and that’s not good. ER is far more superior of the medical shows than Grey’s Anatomy and Hawthrone.
Also I think renewing Rizzoli and Isles and the Closers seems like an interesting idea for TNT.
It’ll be interesting now knowning they will have another season, if these series will end their seasons with cliffhangers,or plot-threads to be picked up the next season.
Being from Boston, Rizzoli & Isles is fun to watch to see if their “Fake Boston” comes close to the “Real Boston” U Love the curring from “stock boston footage” to “Trying to pass as Boston” scenes
Heh–the giveaway is that their footage never includes shots of MIT or some of the more distinctive college areas in town.
I like R&I’s cast (and Gerritsen’s books) but a few things keep the show from being appointment viewing for me. Its episodes have a tendency to flag around the middle–it’s like the scripts run thin on plot at that point. And the “Rizzoli vs. her ladylike Moms” subplot should be a lot more entertaining than it is. I’m not sure whether it’s annoying because Rizzoli gives in too easily or because it’s not more craftily-written–or just because Rizzoli seems mature enough to have drawn a line in the sand with her mom re: this kind of interference. Whatever the reason, it ain’t working as well as it should. I also agree with the above poster that the show doesn’t have a good grasp on its setting–the cases don’t seem rooted enough in the city proper or something.
I LOVE “Rizzoli & Isles”!!! It is AMAZING!! CONGRATS to Janet Tamaro!!
Does anyone know if BONES was renewed??
I absolutely LOVE Hawthorne. I think Jada does an awesome job!! At times the story lines can be a bit predictable, but the show is great none the less. BRING IT BACK!!!
If Dr Isles is as smart as she is portrayed, she would have said “The man lying on that table,” instead of “The man laying on that table ….”
R & I needs to tighten up their scripts—characters are getting boring and showing incompetence. Tonight’s season finale was too unbelievable—–Isles did not know a thing and that scene went on for too long. It was painful to watch Isles not going into action. Hey, writers, give the women better smarts and show that they know how and when to act quickly.
