EXCLUSIVE: Joe Manganiello, dubbed the hottest new addition to HBO’s True Blood this season, has been promoted to regular for Season 4. He plays hot sexy alpha male werewolf Alcide Herveaux, an iconic character in the The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels that True Blood is based on. There was a lot of buzz surrounding the casting of the role late last year before it went to One Tree Hill alum Manganiello. He was originally supposed to appear only in a handful of episodes, but I hear he impressed the show’s producers and was embraced by True Blood fans, leading to his promotion to regular for next season. True Blood, which was just nominated for a best drama series Emmy, was renewed for a fourth season 2 episodes into the current third season. As for Season 3 of the vampire drama, there is a lot of chatter that some original cast members will be killed off by season’s end. Creator Alan Ball and the cast might shed some light on the show’s upcoming death toll at the True Blood panel at Comic-Con this afternoon.

More and more the show is becoming Twilight for middle-aged women.
It’s much better than Twilight. There are deeper metaphors on this show. Sure there’s sex on this show. But there’s much more to True Blood than sex. This year is about identity, is who each other is and what is their past and what are their motivations. You’re seriously underestimating this show if you think its just about sex.
spoken by a person that doesn’t watch the show…
sorry dude but the ladies I talk to -well we all happen to be in our early to mid twenties…not exactly middle aged if you know what i mean..
alright scratch that..maybe mid twenties is middle aged given h-wood’s propensity towards late teen nymphets…
Another love for Sookie??? Eric might be the one who dies??? I hope not. Manganiello is ok, just like Alcide. Yeah, I agree, death to Tara.
It’s the Situation!
What up with the Tara hate? Her “fans” are out here and we think she’s doing a great job and is in one of the hottest stories w/Franklin Mott. I can send in the troops to post positive but I won’t bother geez I don’t want her to die neither does “her fans” and she has a large fanbase…but since this is about Joe….
I am glad that he is sticking around I like him as Alcide and look forward to seeing him next Season…still was going for the Superman role for him but he can do outside projects hopefully.
Rutina is doing a fantastic job as Tara haters will spread their venom to every knook and cranny…haters hate that is what they do..I’ve heard negatives about Anna’s acting as well, and almost every character on the show so she’s not alone
Saw the new episode tonight. It was awesome. Bill and Lorena’s story has to be one of the best on the show. I can’t wait until Eric goes all viking on Russell’s ass. And Sophia Anne is one of the hottest chicks on that show. I did notice that there are a lot of Gingers. Doesn’t matter because Jessica is also hot.
i think some people need a life your judging this “show” like it’s a real life documentary just enjoy it..escape the real world and Tara is doing a great job i can’t be the only one who figured out the character is played the way it’s directed true blood is great fun and fantasy…glad Joe is coming back and all other characters.
Have you seen this Joe Manganiello video interview? SO HOT!

I cannot stand to watch the actress who plays Tara and cannot believe that the producers and directors who work on True Blood don’t feel exactly the same. She has no nuance. Everytime she comes on screen I want to turn off the show. I keep hoping she will be killed off. And soon.
Tara is the best. The only reason to watch her is in the beginning. Now she’s gotten some victimy story lines that do0n’t show all her talent, but whose fault is that. She keeps Lafayette balanced and that’s worth a lot. Plus she has killer arms, the girl works out hard!
Alcide is an awesome and essential addition to the show. Joe Manganiello is exactly what the show needed and he is pretty closely portrayed in accordance to the books– minus the green eyes, which is fine by me. I feel like the writers are going a little too rough around the edges with him. He is a gentle bear of a man, and a gentleman, despite the werewolf, contractor thing. They make him curse too much for my taste. It makes me cringe. He is gorgeous and I read him as kind of a pillar of quiet strength. The cussing gives him a classless edge which is not as attractive.
OK, IF YOU REALLY THINK THAT ANYONE OF THEM IS THAT BAD, THAN STOP WATCHING THE SHOW. WHAT YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE, THERE IS ALWAYS SO THAT DOES. I GUESS IF YOU DIDN’T LIKE SOMEONE YOU WOULD WANT THEM DEAD, NOT THINKING ABOUT THE FAMILY THAT THEY MAY BE LEAVING BEHIND. JUST GROW UP AND WATCH AND ENJOY THE SHOW, OR FLIPPING QUIT WATCHING…..
I love True Blood. I love the cast. I don’t understand why everone is so hurtfull and mean. I hope no one dies and they give Tara more screen time so her character can grow.
