If you’re developing a prequel to your hit series Burn Notice built around Comic-Con fave Bruce Campbell, what better place to announce the plan than Comic-Con! That’s exactly what Jeff Wachtel, USA Network’s president of original programming, did at the Burn Notice panel today. The prequel is being developed as an original movie, not a series, and will focus on Sam Axe’s (Campbell) military past. I loved Campbell’s reaction to the news as reported by audience members. “What do I have to say about that? I have to say that USA finally got their s**t together.” Classic!

Sweet Can’t Wait
Love Bruce Campbell, and love Sam Axe! So happy he’s getting his own movie.
Who doesn’t love Bruce Campbell. Is the svengali-guru-coach Mikkel Bondesen a part of this movie? I hope so he is like the smartest executive ever. If you don’t know that he will surely tell you that. Nix wake up Bondesen is getting 10% to teach you the alphabet. Jeff Wachtel you rock!!!!! Great idea.
Anonymous Mikkel Hater,
Who is the one with the hit series (and another on the way) and now a prequel film to a hit series? Not you.
Matt Nix started out working for a manager, and he’s been sticking with Mikkel as his success blooms. What does he know about managers that you don’t?
That’s a rhetorical question.
Give Bruce his own lead in series. He can do two show’s at once. God knows they are ruining Burn Notice this season anyway. What are the writer’s doing or is it the producers? What the hell is going on? Adding this new dude had ruined the dynamic. The voice of the show is gone, and I can barely watch anymore, bummer.
I agree, the new guy needs to GO, he is spoiling one of my favorite shows!!!
@Lee: agree with you; I don’t like the fourth wheel, .. maybe Jeffrey Donovan wanted less screen time? Who knows, but I prefer more of Gabrielle Anwar–she’s such a cool character–and Sharon Gless. Maybe he’ll only be in it for a short time, though, to somehow link back up to Michael’s burn notice. Lets hope so. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s ruined the show–I still like it–but it’s not as good. As for Sam getting his own movie–right on!
Bubba Ho-Tep-’nuff said.
Mikkel IS a joke. Emperor’s new clothes. His management business went down the toilet and all his clients left. Never a good sign when every one of your ex clients and ex employees has something bad to say about you. He takes advantage of everyone to better himself. All the Landmark Forum crap is just plain creepy.
Couldn’t agree more. The Landmark stuff and his young storytellers ruse just masks what he really is. A creepy guy who would sell out his family and his friends with a smile on his face. I can’t believe how many people fall for his BS. Most of us don’t need to be “coached” and thankfully most of his clients are figuring that out. Mikkel coach yourself no retire and go back to where ever you came from.
“But what is ‘BURN NOTICE’?”
I thought it was just me. Hopefully we can get thru this story arc and get back to the real Burn Notice.
Fabulous!!!! Just don’t worry a great idea with bad casting.
Burn Notice is a fun ride each week and Matt Nix is super talented I can’t figure out all the Mikkel hatred out there. He is a hard workng psychopath like many people in this business. He just does it with a smile on his face. Yes it is couched in his “I love everyone” but his results speak for themselves. Who cares that there are bodies left on the side of the road from his destructive ways. That’s the business folks. Bad Guy probably. Great results you bet. No conscious: not one bit. Lots of money in his bank account Yesiree. Congratulations Mikkel I know you sleep well. Would I like to be you. Not for all the money in the world.
I met Mikkel when Fuse tried to sign me. Dude freaked me out with all this mumbo jumbo. He said he wasn’t a manager but a coach and they wouldn’t help me get jobs or sell my scripts. I left that meeting and was perplexed I pay FUSE 10% for me to set goals and have calls about action items we come up with each week. When I called my lawyer he asked me one simple question do i think that what Mikkel offers is worth 10% of my earnings. Suffice to say I didn’t sign and I signed with a manager who helped me develop my scripts. Sold the first one and got 2 gigs at studios. My goal that year was to break in and I crushed that goal. Thank g_d I didn’t fall for that cult like mumbo crap.
Why is the comments thread about Bruce Campbell doing a Burn Notice prequel pic all about someone who is not even mentioned in the article?
Give it a rest, people. Or at least focus your ire on threads that are relevant.
