EXCLUSIVE: Watchmen producer Lloyd Levin will be at Comic-Con, shopping a script for a live action version of the Sebastian A. Jones comic series The Untamed, which was published by Stranger Comics. It is a dark fantasy revenge tale about a man released from hell and given seven days to reap the seven souls that murdered him and his family. Jones wrote the script and Boom! Studios co-founder Andrew Cosby is attached to make his directorial debut. Jones founded Stranger Comics, which he describes as a boutique digital comic publisher. Levin, whose fanboy resume also includes the Guillermo del Toro-directed Hellboy films and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, will produce with Andrew Sugerman (Shopgirl). The comic was illustrated by Peter Bergting and Darrell May.
Levin said they have locked in as visual effects supervisor Ken Locsmandi–he’s worked on films like The Matrix and Fight Club and Apocalypto–and the project is being budgeted. He is confident financial will materialize for a modestly-budgeted film that has a harder edge than most fantasy fare. The main character, for instance, is hardly a sympathetic guy. In fact, he’s earned his place in hell.
“He’s killed a lot of people himself, but he not only gets the chance to unravel the mystery of who killed his family and get revenge, but there is a story of redemption here as well,” Levin said.
Below is an animated intro for the comic, released when the book was first published.

That’s incredible. I love that book. This is going to be a great picture, especially with Loyd at the helm. Very cool.
WOW very nice. that’s a great idea. Good luck. Can’t wait to see the movie. Thank you Dee
God damn or should I say damn the devil. It looks amazing. Great work Sebasian. Can’t wait to see the feature. Best of luck at Comic-Con.
Cosby is a huge comic and genre geek, and also a great guy, so big congrats to him on this.
fantastic news – loved the book – must be a smash in film version
Good job Seb and Good luck!
congrats my friend! this is amazing news…
Great comic, the writer pulls you into the story. Love it.. Can’t wait to view it on the big screen.
Congrats you guys!
Congrats, this is good-can’t wait to see.
Revenge, revenge, revenge, revenge. Why is this all anyone wants to make movies about anymore? It’s so disappointing and boring to read the loglines for the thriller/action/graphic novel scripts in development now and see the word “revenge” in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
Yes, there are some great revenge films and it’s primal, etc…etc…but c’mon. We all know most of the time it’s just an excuse to dish out two hours of hyper-violence bordering on torture porn, and they’re usually very predictable stories with flat characters and end up being hollow experiences for the audience.
And I love how Levin tries to elevate it with the R word (“redemption), when he knows this movie is only going to be about people getting their brains bashed in for 2 hours. Just call it what is, this movie will be two hours of thinly-veiled torture porn that will look like a video game, spare me the “redemption” crap.
With all due respect, you have no idea. Yes, it’s a brutal, violent story, but “redemption” is not just a buzz word here.
The man has been in Hell for a decade. The devil makes him a deal… his freedom for the seven souls of the men who killed him. But the question has to be asked, can you get out of Hell by doing what the devil wants, or must you find redemption another way?
If it was just him killing seven guys and riding off into the sunset, it would be a pretty lackluster story, and that’s not what we do. So please don’t jump to conclusions so quickly.
Ahem, read the comic before judging it based on one word….
No way… this Comic is amazing, i cant believe its getting made into a film. Finally a good comic is being made, i hope they keep it as stylized as the comic. As well as i think there are more to come???
this reminds me of a samari western but hopefully in the vein of Sin City… nice…. a producer with some balls…
This is awesome! I just started reading the series and am beyond excited that now there will be a movie. But where can I get the book everyone is talking about?
CONGRATS !!!! I KNEW IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.
Great story and great mythology. I can see this as a never ending franchise !!!! Hope to be your biggest “Fanboy”.
This is gonna be amazing!!! Congrats Stranger comics!!
I mean seriously – the comic and the animatic is already eye candy – i can only imagine how awesome this is gonna be on the big screen! The last few fantasy films that have been out seemed to have this disconnect – no meat n bones to them. This one — i can’t wait! I secretly want to be the warrior elf chick – don’t tell anyone tho…
21 gun salute rasta seb. glad to see things comin to fruition, bruv.
So hotty Cool stuff! cann’t wait to see it in a live movie!!
Woohoo! Can’t wait for this!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, deadwood meets morridor I’m in!
Thanks to all, especially Nikki and Mike for the great post — This film is gonna be a Kurosawa / Peckinpah mash up – dark fantasy style. Uncompromising, Unforgiving, Untamed! Best!Seb
This sounds really cool, should make a great action movie!
Wonderful – a gripping tale which should make a gripping film – can’t wait for it to be made and released!
Sounds like a great project, and best of luck with it but, honestly, I don’t think the animation helps at all.
“Revenge, how sweet it is!” What Amazing work Sebastian! Can’t wait to see the film!!
Wow. Way to step up into the big leagues. I’ve been following Sebastian’s progress since he did that comic with the Polish Brothers, and this is huge news!
