EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Fox is setting Nicholas Hoult for the role of Beast in the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class. Hoult made his first screen impression playing the bullied school kid reluctantly adopted by Hugh Grant in About a Boy. But he has grown into manhood in recent roles that included A Single Man and Clash of the Titans, and he is also booked for the cast of the George Miller-directed Mad Max: Fury Road for Warner Bros. Latter film was pushed back, and so Hoult will first make X-Men: First Class. Hoult joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Alice Eve (Emma Frost). Fox will cast up quickly as a production start is imminent. Hoult is repped by UTA and UK-based Independent Talent Group. Fox hasn’t yet confirmed his deal.

Hoult is a tremendous young talent and a class act. He’ll be a big player in a few years time, if he keeps his head together.

Agreed. how many times do we see older actors portray youger characters on both the big and little screens alike. Bet money that Chris still lives in his mothers cellar staring @ pictures of Sarah Michelle Gellar and thinking of her in a Dazzler costume. I’ve been collecting comix 4 decades & cannot stand when someone has to use a public forum 2 critique every single llittle thing. Ari set a standard, and it has for the most part been stuck to. He transitioned many marvel (and some DC) characters and titles into our main stream society, thus preserving comic books as a valid medium of reading. So Chris, give it a chance will you.

glad fox managed to get beast in the end. for after all one can not have an x-men film starting from the teams early days with out beast. that just leaves now ice man angel and jean for the original team. since emma frost and banshee and cyclops have been cast. and lets see if fans can not have scarlet witch and quicksilver join the brother hood of evil in the film. with magnetoe and mystique.
Anyone know the real skinny on Ben Walker. Did he really decide to do the Broadway play instead or did Fox change their minds? Seems like since the release date is 6/11…if he shot the film and the show producers opened in April, there would be plenty of time for Tony deadline and their star would have a bigger profile…

Ben Walker had been dropped as he looked too old to play the student of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender once they had been cast in the lead roles. I wonder if Alice Eve will also be dropped as she also might have the same issue of looking a similar age as the leads.
I agree. Alice Eve, however gorgeous, is too old to appear in her teens. She is close to 30.

Did you not see Woverine. I know he didn’t have a really big part but he was in it. Also he didn’t come to the X-Men for some time so you can’t really have him in the early films.
First off, I think you are asking about Gambit, secondly…did you not watch Wolverine: Origins? Granted Gambit wasn’t a huge leading character, he still played a decisive role in the movie by assisting Logan in getting to Three-mile Island.
Having said that, I would love to see more of him, as Gambit was on my top 10 list of favorite characters.

if they’re staying within the continuum of the films rather than the books (which are WAY better of course), than Iceman and Angel will not be included in the first class. Ice man is a kid in the first X-Men movie and not one of the older members like Cyclops and Jean. and Angel is introduced in the Third movie and apparently never met the X-Men until that moment. I hope they throw out the first three movies altogether and make a proper First Class true to the books.
First off, it’s spelled Gambit, and he was in Origins: Wolverine. They just called him by his name, Remy LeBeau.
Second, If they are doing this from the stand point of the original team and the origins of the team, then any talk of furry blue Beast already means I will hate this movie. Hank McCoy didn’t start out blue and furry, it was an accident.
And third, none of it matters. Until Marvel gets serious andmakes a REAL movie (ala DC and The Dark Knight or the Watchmen) rather than the garbage they have pumped out since the onset, fanboys will be weak and the mainsteam will be casually interested.

Actually Gambit was brought up in X men 2 and they put a face on him in X men origins. In Xmen 2 if you watch as the files are being downloaded from the computer they have his name on the computer screen “Remy LaBough” and if you remember Beast was in the first Xmen movie. They were talking to him on the television in the bar when Mystique injected the lead in the security guard. However in that version he was not blue. His blue fur did not appear until later in his life.
Where is this movie coming from? Will there be a x-men 4 everyone needs to know is xavier really dead, is jean really dead, what happened to cyclops, where is gambit, does magneto get his powers back. Apocalypse, Mr.Sinister, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Cable, Bishop. Man this is crazy! If your going to do movies do them the right way is not fair that we have to sit around as fans wondering about everyone and everthing that is suppose to be in the movie but isnt! Tell them to contact me, I will lay it all out script by script so they know the way the real true way xmen is suppose to be.
God pls no!!! X-men last stand was a good “what if” movie, but absolutely horrible as a continued chapter of the X-men franchise. They killed Jean, Prof. X and Cyclops. Of course they could not continue the story, so now there are trying a prequel. (I wish they would do that “Dallas” thing and make belive the movie never happened.) There is no way to include Wolverine in this movie. Really we haven’t hear anything about Havoc in the first three movies, but he was in the first class. The rest of the team just doesn’t do it for me. I understand that they had to deviate from the comic book, but damm, they could have kept the original team format at the very least.
Age of Apocalypse, nimrod, imperial guard, phalanx, a whole lot of sentinels, days of futures past… there are 100′s of stories, pick one.
Last but not least, Juggernaut’s not a mutant. Getting that wrong showed they just don’t care.
