How does ‘Lost’ not win for music score!??! No other show uses music hand in hand with storytelling like that show did.
Agreed, this makes me believe that it will go home emty handed at the Emmys.
Have you watched 24? It does this also and very well I might add.
Shocking that Giacchino didn’t win music composition for “Lost”
Randy Newman won for a new song he wrote for the final episode.
Monk didn’t win for best theme – it won for best Music and Lyrics, which is any original song used in any episode of a series. Randy Newman wrote “When I’m Gone” specifically for the finale episode.
By the way, the theme song of Monk “It’s A Jungle Out There” won the Emmy for best theme the season the theme began use (Season 2). The original theme song used in Season 1 also won the Emmy for best theme.
Congrats to Jamie Oliver & Charles Wachter for their Emmy Win for Best Reality Program: “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution”!!! YAY!!!!
James – Didn’t watch Lost after the first season so will accept the show integrated music and story. But Sean Callery’s work on 24 over the entire run of the series was extraordinary. Outside of a couple of songs in the pilot, it was all original music, nuanced, thematic for both major & minor characters as well as story. The result was two ASCAP wins, and 9 nominations for 24 (all 8 seasons plus the Redemption movie. His work for the finale, which resulted in his third win, was well deserved.
i can’t believe that Kristin Chenoweth & Kathy Griffin lost tonight -_-
NPH over Mike O’Malley. Really?
Really surprised at ‘Lost’ not winning the score one as well, the music during the last ten minutes of the finale alone was breathtaking and one of the most effective uses of incidental music at a very emotional moment, which is something ‘Lost’ was consistently good at.
I’m also somewhat surprised Mike O’Malley didn’t win the Guest Actor in a Comedy, everything I’ve read had just assumed he had that one wrapped up. I know Harris is widely admired and respected, including from me, but I wasn’t expecting him to win…maybe O’Malley’s roles was considered too “dramatic”? His best performances were on the heavier side of things.
kathy lost to a food show! ridiculous!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL INVOLVED WITH ROBOT CHICKEN. ESPECIALLY COREY AND ALEX @ SHADOW MACHINE!!!! WELL DESERVED FELLAS! SO PROUD OF YOU!
was hoping Ricky Gervais would win for best animation. Maybe next year
The winning song, “When I’m Gone”, was written specifically for this episode, which was the series’ finale. It is not the theme song, which won several years ago.
I think Modern Family is an incredibly well cast and executed series. But in terms of one of the most challenging and successful pieces of CASTING ever GLEE was, and is, beyond phenomenal!! Discovering that many multi-talented performers is truly amazing! I can not understand how it was not honored with the CASTING EMMY it so deserves.
Finding actors who can sing is easy — see Braodway. Finding actors who can do hard comedy, while looking like they’re all believably from the same family, is hard. Modern Family is the best ensemble cast on television.
I hate to disagree, but if you have ever studied or seen more than one production on Broadway or in the musical theatre genre, you will understand how challenging the casting of those projects is. In addition, Glee had to cast actors capable of dancing, singing, acting and comedy – no small feat, as well as many different ethnicities and handicapped actors as well – again, no small feat. This is not to take away from Modern Families win, but to temper the knee jerk response that Modern Family casting is intrinsically superior because those actors don’t sing (probably from a lingering misunderstanding and lack of respect for the art form inherrint in musical theatre work). Glee and Modern Family are both incredible successes in their own way and overcame a variety of challenges presented to the casting offices unique to the specific project.
Just an FYI- if you’re referring to Kevin McHale(the guy in the wheelchair) with regards to handicapped casting; He is not really handicapped or physically challenged. He is indeed, acting.
Bear McCreary robbed in Main Title.
Congratulations Zach Zaubi for being recognized for all you hard work on CSI!!! You are an amazing person, friend, and brother!!!
I’m so upset that Kathy and Kristin lost!
I’m happy Hathaway won for “The Simpsons”. Even though I feel the Emmys love to bestow awards to undeserving A-list stars – to help bring attention to the awards ceremony . But, Anne deserved her nomination ( and win) . She truly brought her A-game to that show. Besides bringing incredible charisma to her role, she displayed great comedic timing, perfect Long Island accent, stupendous operatic singing, and lovely dramatic moments .

The Emmy snub of Sons of Anarchy reduces it to a meaningless circle jerk.
GO NORMAN !!!!!!
The worst Tony Awards production in Tony Awards history wins an Emmy. Unbelievable.
Congratulations, Zach! It is so thrilling to see that your professional excellence and unwavering work ethic are finally being recognized. I couldn’t be more happy for you. Congrats again, my friend. ~AD
Mike O’Malley should have won…hands down!!!
I’m very bummed that they gave the Best Variety writing award at the Creative Artists Emmys this year, if only because one of the few guaranteed moments of humor and spontaneity with an otherwise dull awards show the last ten years has been seeing the oneupmanship that the different variety shows — Stewart, Colbert, Letterman, Conan, etc — bring to the videos showing all their nominated writers.
