For years now CW’s America’s Next Top Model has been a bad joke. Executive producer/host Tyra Banks repeatedly publicized the contest as high fashion, but in reality tie-ins with CoverGirl cosmetics and Seventeen magazine skewed the winners to the teen scene. Which is why last season’s new judge, fashion editor André Leon Talley, seemed hopelessly out of place without heroin chic. (And at times seemed bewildered why no one else was doing the show in French.) Well, he’ll feel more at home in Season 15. Because ANTM’s producers, 10 by 10 Entertainment and Bankable Productions, have given the show a high fashion overhaul for Season 15. First, the new prize package includes a spread in Vogue Italia, a major step up from Seventeen. But guest judges joining Talley include Sex And The City stylist Patricia Field, photographers Patrick Demarchelier and Francesco Carrozzini, designers Zac Posen and Roberto Cavelli, as well as Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani. Stupidly, the CoverGirl contract is still intact. (The company must be blackmailing Tyra with a file of her fat photos…)
